Despite it being news to some, this actually isn’t new news — rather it’s simply an update to a long-standing but very well buried story—well buried by both the U.N. and liberals and their media. (I’ve blogged about it numerous times over the years: here and here and here and here and here in 2004, for example).
Rapes and sexual abuse and similarly horrid abuse by United Nations workers has been going on for many years. They’ve acted with about as much haste on this file as they have on any file, like Iraq, for example, which after 17 resolutions they still did exactly nothing, which thus led to the Iraq war.
UN investigated over 300 for alleged sex offences
More than 300 members of United Nations peacekeeping missions have been investigated by the international body for alleged sexual exploitation and abuse during the past three years.
A senior UN official made the announcement Friday, saying that half of those who were investigated were fired or sent home.
The news came after a report by the U.K.‘s Daily Telegraph newspaper, which included allegations that UN personnel in southern Sudan took part in sexual exploitation and abuse of more than 20 children.
