Fox News Channel ratings beats CNN and all the others by a mile in ‘06, as always

image  I’m happy to see that the great Fox News Channel is still, by far, the ratings leader in the U.S., beating all the competition by a mile.

Liberals—particularly in Canada where they haven’t been able to watch Fox News Channel until recently (and many still haven’t but opine anyway as if they know, because many liberals are simply automatons),  love to paint Fox News Channel is “hideously biased” (they always emit an obviously strained chuckle and complimentary eye-roll as obviously as possible in reaction to the utterance of the words “Fox News Channel” in order to stress their baseless point and evangelize you to their religion —since liberals always think everyone in the room agrees with them), but of course that’s a total crock.  Fox News Channel simply provides both sides to stories and is fair and balanced—that’s what so rankles liberals; that’s what liberals think is unfair.  They literally think it’s unfair to present the conservative side.  It’s like they’re babies.  Or fascists.

Liberals have had free reign here in Canada all these years and they know it full well —and this is thanks in no small part to liberal-leftist government regulations via the state-regulator (of all that we are allowed to see and hear through the media), the CRTC, which banned Fox News Channel in this country for so long;  and thanks to Canada’s far-leftist state-run media outlet, the CBC, which is (forever more) now totally dominated by liberal-left appointees and then their subsequent hires of subordinates down the line over decades;  and thanks to the other networks all being anti-conservative and sometimes nothing short of overt shills for liberal-leftists and liberalism in general (to the extent that they are run by past candidates or fund-raisers or executives of the Liberal Party of Canada).

Most Canadians who start watching Fox News Channel are simply astounded—in a positive way.  It’s really quite different than anything they’ve seen.  And they realize for the first time that they’ve been blind-sided all their lives as far as news is concerned.  For some, that realization is quite depressing.  I understand that.

It’s really quite astonishing for some to find that there’s other sides to news and news analysis besides that presented through the prism of liberal—or far-left liberal—bias, which apart from Fox News Channel, is all that is available here in Canada on the network level.  Canada’s broadcasters and their viewers have been led to think that they present “two sides” or “both sides”, but on the state-run CBC for example, it’s most often literally: liberal ….and far-left liberal or even plainly Marxist.  Yes, Marxist.  Objective people from other countries have no trouble identifying much of what they hear on Canadian TV as overtly communist, and yes, unfortunately, I’m absolutely serious about that.  (Imagine a state-run cable news network—CBC Newsworld in this case, which thinks it is perfectly normal to present, over and over, the fringe far-leftist (quite possibly communist) Michael Moore’s “documentaries” on their “news” network.  I’m not making this up.  Review their recent schedule.  That’s literally the kind of balance they provide and are providing even this very week.)

So unless you think that the vast majority of Americans are conservative, then Fox News Channel, as their number one cable news network (given a wide number of options), is as they say fair and balanced, quite simply, and does the best job of presenting news and commentary on the news.  Even liberals watch it, in other words.

Mediabistro reports:

The 2006 cable primetime ranker is out, and Fox News Channel is the only cable news in the top 20. FNC is #8, behind Nick at Nite and ahead of FX. The channel averaged 1,404,000 viewers in primetime in 2006.

CNN came in #26, averaging 752,000 primetime viewers. MSNBC is ranked #35, averaging 382,000 viewers.

Complimentary data: Here’s the Thursday night (January 4 2007) rankings of the cable news networks in the U.S. (my usual hat tip to Matt Drudge for the info), with my comments in brackets:

(Cable news outlet – host – viewers – my comments)

· FOX NEWS CHANNEL – BILL O’REILLY 2,505,000 (conservative)
· FOX NEWS CHANNEL –  HANNITY and COLMES 1,802,000 (a conservative and a liberal)
· FOX NEWS CHANNEL –  SHEPARD SMITH 1,374,000 (neutral but I suspect liberal)
· FOX NEWS CHANNEL –  BRIT HUME 1,258,000 (conservative with liberal panelists)
· FOX NEWS CHANNEL –  GRETA VAN SUSTEREN 1,194,000 (admitted liberal and friend of Hillary)
· CNN – Larry KING 1,014,000 (overtly liberal)
· CNN – Anderson COOPER 835,000 (mostly liberal)
· CNN – Lou DOBBS 814,000 (nobody knows; he hates everyone)
· CNNHN – Nancy GRACE 676,000 (hard to figure but pro law and order)
· MSNBC – Keith OLBERMANN 665,000 (wacked-out extreme Bush-hater and irrational leftist zealot ass)
· MSNBC – SCARBOROUGH 648,000 (squishy)
· CNN – Paula ZAHN 643,000 (mostly liberal)
· CNNHN – Glenn BECK 467,000 (conservative – and this is an excellent new show)
· MSNBC – Chris MATTHEWS 424,000 (liberal-leftist, major Bush-hating bully, ass)

Again, Fox News Channel is now unbanned in Canada thanks to enormous pressure from folks like us, who managed to convince the state regulator (the liberals’ CRTC) to unban it after a major effort, and after they’d OK’d the anti-American Al Jazeera.  (My critics whine that they OK’d Al Jazeera only with several monitoring restrictions (that’s an actual argument to them!), but forget to tell you that the CRTC actually considered those exact same restrictions for Fox News Channel, on the recommendation of liberals.  It’s all documented in the Fox News/CRTC documents, which I possess.  That’s how liberals in Canada think… much like government propagandists in China, the old Iraq, Iran, North Korea…).  Liberals in Canada —including Liberal Party politicians who all that time were able to watch it—but only within the Parliament Buildings!—actually fought vigorously to demand that the CRTC prevent Canadians from having access to Fox News Channel—to keep it banned—on the very basis that it presented the conservative side to news.  They feared (and still do) that Canadians would hear the conservative side.

Our local cable outfit at the time, Delta Cable, ran this ad shortly after being allowed to provide it to Canadians:

Contact your cable provider or satellite provider.  Nearly every media provider in Canada offers Fox News Channel now (Rogers, Shaw, Bell’s ExpressVu, Star Choice, and so on), with gaps in Quebec of course because the liberals who run the media providing companies there are purposely slow to offer any of their viewers a non-far-liberal-left propaganda option.

The liberals’ CRTC managed to make Fox News Channel available only on the digital spectrum, meaning that unlike CNN and of course their favorites, the state-run CBC Newsworld which they have to by law make available to you whether you care or not, and liberalvision CTV Newsnet, if you’re on a typical cable system you need a digital setup (satellite subscribers can get it without additional boxes since they’re all-digital).  So you cable subscribers may need to rent a digital box (costs very little), and then you can get Fox News Channel and lots of other channels (all the new channels are to be on the digital spectrum so it’s not a bad move to go digital anyway—no special TV is required).  We have a Star Choice satellite system and pay only about $5 per month for Fox News Channel and others in a package.

Hat tip to Frogg for the Mediabistro material.
