Progressives appoint (instead of elect) a progressive to prove they’re progressive

image  Liberal Frenchman Stephane (“the Green Guru”) Dion has appointed—appointed, mind you—a candidate to run for the Liberals in the next election.  The aboriginal woman he appointed—appointed, mind you—is currently sitting as an socialist MLA for the Saskachistan you’ve got to be kidding party, which was recently ousted from power there.  She’ll be switching teams to the relatively identical federal Liberal Party, rendering the federal Liberals an only half-joking party.  Or half-wits.

Dion, who wasn’t available for comments which we wouldn’t have understood anyway, claims that the appointment of the aboriginal woman named Joan Beatty cements their lefty affirmative action commitment to magically attract more women who will be elected to run for the Liberals.  In this case they (once again) left out that annoying “elected” part, of course, but as I understand it, that’s OK because they’re “progressive”.  Once again: that’s “progressive”

As a member of the sane, sensible set, it only proves to me once again that Liberals think females are inferior.  Liberals are anti-women sexists, and feel as though women can only get ahead with their benevolent help; liberals believe women can’t make it on their own volition.  Women need special provisions in order to make it in this rough-and-tumble world.  Once again my bilingual English/Liberal skills come in handy here:  this is not condescending to left-wing women—this is “empowering”.  Once again: that’s “empowering”

Liberals don’t just seek equal opportunity; —they command equal outcomes.  In case you didn’t know, this is preposterous; and it is backwards; and utterly socialist thinking.

And Liberals all claim that this all proves Dion’s a leader, of some kind.

The CTV.ca new story about it mentions this line in passing, which made me pressure-spray my monitor with coffee this morning:  “Beatty, who was a CBC journalist before entering politics…”

You don’t say.
