Reading the liberal media stories about what they would like you to believe is a universal hate-on for Prime Minister Harper and anything conservative, you’d think that Canadians would be literally dumping money on the liberal-left parties in order to guarantee their win in the next election. That might help lend some validity to their liberal-left agenda-driven “news”. But actual facts reveal that nothing could be further from the truth.
As we saw in the past year or two, the Conservatives are still far outpacing the liberal-left in raising cash from plain Canadians who apparently rather like the Conservative Party plans for our country, which as we’ve been told are of course “‘extreme”, “Neanderthal”, “backwards”, “unpopular”, “ridiculous”, “war-mongerish”, “hidden”, “homophobic”, and “Bush-like”. (And they’re not “progressive”, dammit.)
As a matter of fact, the number of people contributing to the Conservatives is growing.

Conservatives continue to dominate political fundraising in Q3 2006
OTTAWA (CP) – The federal Conservatives may have angered some in the investment community with their sudden reversal on income-trust policy, but new figures reveal the party remains a fundraising juggernaut.
Financial reports from Elections Canada show the Conservative party raised almost $3.7 million in the third quarter this year, from more than 37,000 separate contributors.
Both the dollar value and number of contributors are more than four times those of the Liberal party, the next closest competitor.
The Liberals, in the midst of a leadership race, raised just over $900,000 from about 7,200 donors, followed by the NDP with $808,000 from some 13,000 contributors.
The Green party, meanwhile, far out-stripped the Bloc Quebecois in fundraising, pulling in almost $91,000, triple the Bloc’s third-quarter total of just under $31,000.
This difference existed well before the liberal Party leadership race was even considered, so that has nearly nothing to do with it, as may have been implied in this story.
Nearly exactly a year ago, I blogged that the Conservatives had more than DOUBLED the amount of money raised by the Liberal Party. This year it’s QUADRUPLED. That report also said that 32,000 Canadians had sent their hard-earned cash to the Conservative Party in the third quarter of ‘05, just ahead of an election. Well this year it’s 37,000. That speaks volumes, though liberals and their media are holding their fingers in their ears and shouting “la-la-la-la we can’t hear you!”.
