“Yes it is true that many, many countries are behind on their targets,” Canadian Liberal Prime Minister Paul (“we lead the world”) Martin said at a joint news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
You don’t say. Wonder why that is! Could it be that the targets were unrealistic? Isn’t that exactly, precisely, word-for-word, what George W. Bush and all right-thinking conservatives said?
[…] [Natural resources minister, John E]fford said this week there’s no way large industrial emitters – which account for about half of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions – can achieve the original target of a 55-megatonne yearly cut.
Efford hinted at much lower initial targets: “If the 55 megatonnes cannot be accomplished . . . why don’t we talk about best practices? Why don’t we accomplish 37 megatonnes or whatever megatonnes?”
Yeah, “whatever”.
But a big shout-out to Canadian Press for informing us that “large industries… account for about half of Canada’s greenhouse emisions”, in spite of the fact that nature is, in the real world, responsible for upwards of 97 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. Just what is 50 percent plus 97 percent? The answer is: liberal lies. And for that they get a ‘F’ in arithmetic as well as political science and journalism and meteorology for that matter. That’s pretty bad. The good news is that they get a ‘C’ in liberal propagandizing which is a prerequisite in journalism schools today.
But the news conference unmercifully went on… (much to my surprise and glee)
Martin was pressed to explain his minister’s statement, but his response did not appear to clarify matters.
“As far as the large polluters are concerned, there was an understanding with certain large polluters – not with all, with certain large polluters – and the fact is that is part of the Canadian plan,” he said. “What we’ve now got to do is complete the plan.”
OK. Huh? Special deals with liberal supporters? Say it isn’t so! (I’m sure he will, don’t worry).
The government still intends to meet its six-per-cent cut by 2012 “and we’re going to be bringing forward a detailed plan that will move heaven and Earth to do just that,” the official said.
…once again showing how rather than being on the side of God, liberals think they are—each one of them—God.
The Kyoto targets are clearly causing discomfort for a number of governments who signed the deal as the clock winds toward the first target deadline. Canada will formally enact the accord next month.
Japan is also behind in meeting its commitments … the question was raised at their joint news conference Wednesday evening … [w]hen Koizumi finally responded, he too noted that many countries are behind and then launched into remarks on the need for recycling programs, which have little to do directly with reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
