A glimpse into socialist health care

Here’s the story of a disciplinary hearing going on at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

I somehow doubt this would occur under conditions where the doctor was working for a private enterprise health provider and health insurer, since they’d likely want to know who’s being hired for what, what their background was, and where all the money is going rather than to, say, “not give a damn” Ã la the socialist Canadian health care system.

He [Dr. Kevin Patrick White] wrote only five clinical notes about Patient A, though he saw her at least twice a week. But from Dec. 7, 2002, to May 17, 2003, he billed OHIP [the government bill-payer] for 140 services on her totaling $4,687.45.

But the additional issue here is that the doctor was issuing drugs and “treatment” sessions not to a sick young woman, but to a prostitute he’d called in himself over the phone, in order to perform oral sex, take pictures of the acts, then upload them to the internet, from a computer in one of Canada’s 4,000-year-old state-run socialist hospitals.

The college hearing identifies the hooker/patient/employee only as Patient A.

An agreed statement of facts says she and the doc conducted business “on numerous occasions” from August 2001, when he phoned her escort agency, to January 2002.

Several times White took photos of Patient A performing fellatio on him.

She agreed, on the condition they not show her face.

Yes, you read it right, “hooker/patient/employee”.  The doctor hired her as an assistant.  Which of course she was, but not in any ethical sense—more in the corrupt liberal government sense (—think Bill Clinton getting oral sex performed on him under his Oval Office desk by Monica Lewinsky!).  And presumably, since Canada’s state-run health care system is state-run, the state paid her wages.

Until February 2004, he gave her narcotics, knowing she was severely hooked on opiates. That’s some good doctoring!

And then in a quaint Canadian everyone is a vicitm of some cotton-pickin’ thing Svend Robinson-esque moment, the lawyer for the doctor testifies at the hearing that “The absolutely unacceptable behaviour of White is not anything other than a disease,” and White is “in treatment” for it.

State-funded treatment for it.
