Loyal liberals will stand behind William (“cold hard cash”) Jefferson

Liberals are nothing if not loyal.  I mean they stand behind Chretien, Martin, and Dion, for goodness sake.  And jewel thief Svend Robinson ran in the last election, endorsed by the leader of the you’ve got to be kidding party (and got 29% of the votes from the liberals in that liberal-left riding), and threatens to run for office again, with the effete one finding absolutely nothing in his own past that might dissuade his liberal-leftist voters or the media or the party leader from blocking that real potentiality. The very notion that that’s even remotely feasible renders the left as morally bankrupt.  But no matter.  People still take liberals seriously.

imageIn the U.S., liberals stood behind Democrat Congressman William Jefferson, when he ran for a second term in the last Congressional elections in November ‘06 and was easily re-elected by Louisiana liberals.  He was endorsed by many other liberals, including the horrible mayor of New Orleans, Ray (“Hurricane Katrina was Bush’s fault”) Nagin.

This vote was after federal agents, while investigating Jefferson for bribery and sundry other such charges, poked around his stuff at home and sure enough, they found $90,000 in cash wrapped in tin foil and food containers in his freezer.  Apparently the fridge wasn’t cold enough for the hard cash.

He wasn’t immediately indicted because liberals balked.

Then Nancy Pelosi, the zany—and let’s make no mistake—F-E-M-A-L-E dontchaknow!—Democratic Party Speaker of the House, immediately found a place for him in none other than the Homeland Security Committee.  This was after she and her left-wing liberals won the House based on, among other things, fighting “the GOP culture of corruption” in Washington.  She appointed him to a sub-committee with jurisdiction over matters related to Hurricane Katrina.  Handy!

The Washington Post reported at the time that “Jefferson said the vote was ‘not contentious’ and that there was ‘no dissent.’”

Of course not.  Liberals live by an entirely different set of rules from the rest of us.

Today William Jefferson has been indicted for 16 counts of racketeering, obstruction of justice and conspiracy.  If he is convicted in court, he could go to jail for 235 years.  Then again, he might get one of the liberals’ judges.

Congressman Jefferson Indicted on Bribery Charges

This story not covered by the leftist state-run CBC.  Contrast this to how they’d manage their agenda it if it were about a Republican or a conservative or a Christian, say.  Also see this blog entry about what else they’re not covering today.
