Liberal Party and the RCMP. Too cozy?

At a time in our country when we’re still investigating and trying to figure out the Liberal Party’s level and degree of corruption—which has already turned out to be biggest political corruption in the history of our great country, it is important to ask the tough questions about how and by whom the matter is going to be investigated.

Back in early June of this year, after reading a story that seemed to smack of a Liberal Party/RCMP link, I openly questioned what was going on.  Here is the blog entry.  Is the RCMP Commissioner yet another Liberal Party-appointed deputy minister with no cross-checks or committee oversight, I wondered.  And if so, doesn’t that make you wonder how impartial they could be if or when they might ever have to investigate their own “boss”—the Liberal Party minister that appointed him?

imageI even wrote a letter to my (Conservative Party) MP asking for clarification at the time.  Here is his reply (click to read).

Now deputy Conservative Party leader Peter MacKay is re-asking the questions too.

Feds ‘cosy’ with RCMP: Tory

CHARLOTTETOWN—A “very unnatural and cosy relationship” between the RCMP and the Liberals could be to blame for the force’s reluctance to investigate the party over Adscam, Deputy Conservative Leader Peter MacKay said yesterday.

MacKay called the relationship between the RCMP and the federal Liberal government “deeply disturbing.”

During a meeting with Charlottetown Guardian’s editorial board, he said the RCMP has investigated allegations surrounding the advertising firms Groupaction, Groupe Everest and Groupe Polygone.

“What’s the one entity that hasn’t been investigated by our national police force? The recipient of the money, and the party that’s in power, that controlled the purse strings, that funnelled the money back to themselves. Isn’t that a bit odd?” said MacKay.

In April, the Liberals asked the RCMP to investigate whether any of its own members participated in fraudulent activities tied to Adscam.

Scott Reid, the prime minister’s director of communications, said MacKay’s comments are disgraceful.

“There are only three words to describe Peter MacKay’s outburst—cheap, cheap and cheap,” Reid said. “Peter MacKay owes an apology to the women and men who don the uniform of the RCMP.”

The arrogant Scott Reid calling Peter MacKay’s “outburst” “cheap cheap cheap” is a little rich, given the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars that are involved in the criminal investigations currently underway into the Liberal Party’s dealings, by the RCMP—who, it should be noted, received some of that “sponsorship” cash.
