Liberal-left Ontario today: city secretly studies restricting churches; prov backs free crack pipes

how liberals think -- Copyright 2008 Joel Johannesen Two stories from the superb LifeSite.net yesterday caught my eye, and seemed to me as a conservative and member of the sensible set to be irreducibly linked

• 1. Church Property Tax Exemption, Freedom of Religion and Association in Peril In Ontario City

• 2. Ontario Health Minister Backs Free Crack Pipe Distribution Program

The first story explains how a secret study has been conducted by the Brampton elitist know-it-alls in town hall, using their Fabian socialist drip-by-drip method (and naturally, their usual method: state taxation and regulation), to limit and restrict as best they can the scope, size, affordability, and the very functionality of churches in that community.  Churches are, as we know, among the last bastions of what liberals and leftists call “conservatism”.  Another institution that they fear—one that they feel may limit or call out or expose the depravity of their otherwise frivolous, materialist, wanton lifestyles.

I liked this line in LifeSite’s first report:

… “The list of recommendations in the report are chillingly reminiscent of communist era repression of not only established religious organizations but also of the right to gather in small groups for religious purposes.” …

Read the report—a 30-second read

In their second report (the story on what I’m going to call Ontario’s “progressive” “and a free crack pipe in every pot!” program), I liked this line—actually it’s the sub-headline:

“Openly homosexual George Smitherman admitted to using drugs before being elected to office”

As usual, both reports include addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and/or links so that you can politely contact the liberals responsible.

For those conservatives who don’t know, and most apparently don’t, this is called “pushing back”.  It’s necessary, because the liberal-left’s drip-by-drip “progressive” agenda is never done.

P.S. —As a matter of interest to some people regarding the church picture above:  For my fun little graphic I purposely chose a picture of a church called the Lincoln Family Church.  It’s a church in Springfield, Illinois.  Abraham Lincoln, a Republican President, was the one credited with the famous line about government, which he said should be “of the people, by the people, and for the people”, in his famous Gettysburg Address.  He was, of course, shot dead.
