Happy New Year from PTBC

New year’s eve day already?  Here I had this big mental list of things to get accomplished—concrete things and abstract cerebral things (yes liberals, it’s true!  Conservatives have a cerebral side despite that whole “God” thing and your automaton talking point number 497!) —and now holiday time is ending with half of those things left undone.

On the other hand, Saddam Hussein’s hanging was an unplanned bonus and that made up for some of the misses on my holiday to-do list. Memo to self:  Use my new Li’l Greeting Card Creator program that Jane gave me for Christmas to create greeting cards featuring Saddam’s noose pics —for my ‘07 greeting cards for Kim Jung Mentally Ill, Imadinnerjacket, Bin Laden, and other nutbar communist and tyrannical and Islamofascist terrorist leaders on my card list who are destroying lives and live to destroy more. Will make a great li’l “heads-up” card!

As the year comes to a close let me point to a couple of good reads (which of course as always includes all “our” columnists as seen across the top banner of this site daily).  One from outside PTBC comes to us by way of the good Toronto Sun’s good Lorrie Goldstein (hat tip to “Don-t Want To”), who penned a good column this morning on one teaspoon of the voluminous liberal media bias (which all liberals still deny exists, in their ongoing and hideous display of perfidy and duplicity to which most of us PTBC readers have become accustomed, and which liberals will one day have to reconcile (see above re Saddam, but tone it down a little)).  Here’s but a teaser:

Media’s hot air on Kyoto
Conservatives get killed for inaction on global warming … the Liberals got a pass

I’ve been doing some research into global warming and the Kyoto accord and boy, have I found some interesting stuff that the Liberal Party of Canada and its media shills don’t like to talk about.

Ready? Here we go. Remember that big Kyoto conference held in Montreal last December, the one hosted by then Liberal environment minister, now Liberal leader, Stephane Dion?

[…Go read the rest – 40 seconds…]

Another one is from our Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, a man who unlike me should be very proud of his accomplishments and his handling of his “to-do” list, who will say this in a speech you’ll hear, today:

The arrival of the New Year is a time to reflect on the year that was and chart a course for the one to come.

Without a doubt, 2006 was a great year for Canada.

Our economy has been strong.

Our country united.

And Canada took a lead role on the world stage.

As Canadians, we were drawn together…

By the Winter Olympics, when our athletes made us all so proud …

By Canada Day, when we celebrated all that we’ve achieved in this great country …

And by Remembrance Day, when we honoured our veterans and remembered their sacrifices.

For me, the highlight of 2006 was visiting our troops, diplomats and aid workers in Afghanistan.

We should be very proud of them.

Of their courage and commitment.

And their skill and professionalism.

Through their selfless acts, these brave men and women are protecting our security interests, and making a real difference in the lives of the long-suffering Afghan people.

As Canadians, we are very fortunate.

Ours isn’t just a great country.

It’s the greatest in the world.

But make no mistake …

Canada’s best days are still ahead …

Happy New Year Canada…

And may God keep our Land glorious and free.

I particularly liked that last bit.
