The Liberal Frenchman was like an urban poisson out of d’eau today in the farm country of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and being a Liberal’s liberal and having read the daily polls in order to formulate his current hard-core “principles”, he totally avoided any mention of his infamous socialist tax-grab and citizen cash redistribution plan, the massive, deceptive “Green Shaft” carbon tax (and “early learning” —wink!) plan.
But I’ve read the media so I know this “Green Shaft” plan isn’t a the biggest election campaign “gaffe” in modern Canadian political history, so go about your day as if this isn’t happening. The media is!
Dion tours Prairies to promise big money for farmers, crime-fighting

2008-09-19REGINA – Stephane Dion’s campaign convoy swept through Manitoba and Saskatchewan on Friday with the Liberal leader delivering promises of even more largesse – this time directed at the Prairie vote that has historically eluded his party.
Campaigning in a region where his Green Shift carbon-tax proposal has proven a tough sell, Dion portrayed himself as a champion of rural Canada in an effort to encroach on the Conservative heartland.
At a family farm west of Winnipeg, Dion promised a four-year, $1.2-billion package to support farmers and, in the process, defended his “fiscally prudent” electoral platform. …
