Conservative Party strategist quits; I never knew he was there; and he me.

Liberalvision CTV.ca reports that this feller Patrick Muttart was so valuable to the party that he’ll be sorely missed.  I’ve never heard of him, and he’s apparently never heard of me.

They say:

[He] left his stamp on the TV ads the Tories ran … His objectives were consistent: win over the middle class, use consistent messages and images to create a brand, and make the Conservatives the party of Canadian patriotism.  …  “He taught the conservative movement in Canada how to win elections again.”

Really.

1.  The TV ads were terrible.  Never mentioned “capitalism”  or any conservative value even once, that I can remember.  Of course, I can’t remember the ads, AT ALL, so…

2.  “Win over the middle class”?  Largely failed to “win over” more than a third of any class.

3.  Use “consistent messages and images”?  Like what?  Name one.  I use more consistent messages and images at PTBC every day.

4.  “Create a brand?”  What’s the Conservative brand?  The universally hated “Canada’s New Government”?  Explain the brand to me. I don’t know what it is, and I’m a conservative.

5.  Made the “Conservatives the party of Canadian patriotism”?  Oh dear.  Are we in opposite land? (And for you folks in The Nation Of Quebec:  Qu’est-ce que c’est que ça—terre de contraire?)

6.  He “taught Conservatives how to win elections”?  Please.  After the biggest political corruption scandal in our nation’s modern history, and the political advantage of being graced with the Liberals having the most useless and ineffectual and possibly off-putting leaders in decades, and still the Conservatives can’t win a majority—twice?  And they aren’t dominating the polls now?  UNLEARN what he “taught”.

The article says “Friends expect that Muttart and his American wife may leave for the United States, a place with myriad opportunities for a conservative political operative with a winning track record.”  I fear for the Republican Party.  They already have John McCain’s people scrambling around looking for work.
