Not so smug now, are we?
While Hu’s look is like a static made-in-China doll, never changing, President Obama — in the Drudge Report capture — suddenly looks absolutely freaked-out by the presence of the President of China, Hu Jintao, yesterday. It’s as if Obama’s starting to figure out the enormity of the job, how small he is in the whole scheme of things, and how unprepared he was for the job. And possibly wishing he hadn’t been reducing America down to size, as he seems to have been bent on doing for the past two or three years in successive apology tours and his constant America is not exceptional appeals and his ongoing “whether we like it or not” America is a superpower – lectures series.
Compare that to a more typical pre-election and regular everyday look (below right), in which he’s constantly seen with his chin raised so high he is forced to look down his nose at the little people, as he tells them they’re not part of anything exceptional, and they should spread their wealth via the government taking it from them and giving it to other folks. And possibly mocking folks for “waving their little tea bags around,” or telling Republicans they can come for the ride “but they have to sit in the back.” Etc.
