Times poll: 97% say gov should resist temptation to take over private sector; gov too involved now

Washington Times poll today:

Former President George W. Bush said America must resist the “temptation” to allow the government to take over the private sector. Do you think the government is too involved now?

Response – Percent – Votes
Yes – 97% – 3371 votes
No – 1% – 63 votes
Undecided – 0% – 12 votes
Other – 0% – 3 votes
3449 total votes

The correct answer is of course “Yes”.

Mr. Bush, sounding like Ronald Reagan suddenly (if only…), made news yesterday as he broke his silence and made a few remarks in concert with the announcement of the new Bush Policy Institute—a part of the future George W. Bush Presidential Center to be built in Dallas:

“The role of government is not to create wealth but to create the conditions that allow entrepreneurs and innovators to thrive.”

and

“As the world recovers, we will face a temptation to replace the risk-and-reward model of the private sector with the blunt instruments of government spending and control. History shows that the greater threat to prosperity is not too little government involvement, but too much.”

Well, yeah.  I.O.W., what we said.
