The other day, I made a spelling mistake! No really—I did!
But today the BILLION-dollar per year taxpayer-funded state-run news media, the CBC division of the liberal-left, which never makes mistakes and is not (I repeat—is NOT) petulant, spent your tax dollars to publish, on their (our) multi-gazillion-dollar people’s web site which has taxpayer-paid editors, something REALLY important. Those wily taxpayer-employed sleuths exposed one of the truly magnificent stories of political intrigue for all Canadians, today.
Here’s the headline:
Harper invites media to holiday reception – on a date that doesn’t exist
Yes, brace yourself, a typographical error by the Prime Minister’s neo-con staff has occurred. In Canada. No really! I am NOT making this up!
Oh. The. Freaking. Humanity!
The story went on—each sentence trying in vain to cast the Harper Conservative government as contemptible and perhaps even nefarious:
OTTAWA (CP) – The prime minister’s tumultuous relationship with the national media is taking on a comic twist this holiday season.
Stephen Harper is inviting members of the parliamentary press gallery to a yuletide reception at his official residence on Monday, Dec. 19. One problem: there is no Monday, Dec. 19 this year. Officials in Harper’s office said the erroneous date on the invitation was unintentional. The event at 24 Sussex Drive is actually being held on Tuesday, the 19th.
Harper’s office “said” that the erroneous date “was unintentional”?! That would certainly prove they’re complete idiots but actually, I doubt it wasn’t unintentional! I bet it was a hidden agenda! A vast right-wing conspiracy! Halliburton is behind this! Someone get COTLER on the horn! Or Michael Moore’s blog team!
The story goes on to explain how the Harper Conservatives’ relationship with the media has been (aside from “tumultuous”), “less-than-cordial”. See, they included that bit because that would explain the possibly nefarious, Machiavellian, ‘so-called’ error—them dang neo-cons is trying to get back at the liberal media I tells ya!
If the state-run CBC is not petulant and idiotic and full of crap, then I stand corrected.
