The Prophet Al Gore’s Son Arrested: Drugs; Driving at 100 Miles Per Hour

Al Gore JuniorBut no biggy: Junior was driving a Prius.  At 100 miles per hour.  With pot and bottles of narcotics in his car.  But it is a hybrid.  So never mind. Did we say hybrid?

The liberals’ Globe and Mail used an Al-Reuters story that appears to rush to the defense—as best they are able—of their enviro-king’s progeny:

Al Gore’s son arrested for drugs,
speeding in hybrid

LOS ANGELES — The 24-year-old son of former Vice President Al Gore was arrested for drug possession on Wednesday after he was stopped for allegedly speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius, a sheriff’s official said.

Al Gore III – whose father is a leading advocate of policies to fight global warming – was driving his environmentally friendly car at about 160 kilometres per hour on a freeway south of Los Angeles when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy at about 2:15 a.m…

I suppose that’s better than the state-run CBC.ca reporters and editors who are simply hiding under their desks and pretending it’s not happening.

FoxNews.com sticks more to the point in their story:

…Gore, 24, was being held in the men’s jail in Santa Ana. This is the second time he was arrested on a marijuana possession charge. Police in Montgomery County, Md., pulled over Gore in December 2003 and noticed the smell of pot and open windows and sunroof despite the freezing temperature.

Gore and his two male passengers at the time were charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and released. Gore was also ticketed for reckless driving by North Carolina police in August 2000, and military police arrested him for drunk driving near a military base in Virginia in September 2002.

And in their main story (AP):

Al Gore’s Son Arrested on Drug Suspicion

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. —  Al Gore’s son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 a.m., Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.

The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, he said.

“He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs,” Amormino said.

Gore was being held in the men’s central jail in Santa Ana on $20,000 bail.

The son of the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee also was pulled over and arrested for pot possession in December 2003, in Bethesda, Md., while he was a student at Harvard University.

He completed substance abuse counseling as part of a pretrial diversion program to settle those charges.

The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore’s four children and their only son, Gore lives in Los Angeles and is an associate publisher of GOOD, a magazine about philanthropy aimed at young people.

Liberals demand that liberal media forget about this story; then a presidential pardon; followed by a formal apology from the President and Cheney.
