Support for Canada’s Afghan mission is up in latest poll

The pollster was quoted as resolving that “The idea that we’re a bunch of pacifists sitting around singing Kumbaya just isn’t the way Canada is.”

The Jan. 8-10 survey of 2,206 Canadians by Innovative Research Group found 58 per cent of respondents support the military action compared to 38 per cent who are opposed

According to the National Post story, sixty per cent, up seven points from October, agreed that Canadians “are providing critical assistance to local Afghans and are trying to create a peaceful and democratic country.” Just 30 per cent agreed to an opposing proposition that the government is putting Canadian lives at risk for “no apparent reason.”

And furthermore, “Roughly the same majority, 58 per cent, agrees with the proposition that Canada should send troops to dangerous, war-torn, underdeveloped countries threatened by “systematic human rights abuses.””

This will be news to Layton’s you’ve got to be kidding party which still quixotically believes it has the pulse of the nation.

I think it should also be remembered that Canadians, being led like sheep by liberal-left academic indoctrination for decades, and the liberal-left and their media for decades, may often answers poll questions the way that they think they’re supposed to—and certainly on this issue, they’ve been instructed under no uncertain terms to answer in the negative about the war on terror—in other words to officially hate it because, we’re instructed, we’re anti-American Bush-hating liberal-left pacifists, don’t you know.  So I suspect the number might actually be much more positive once more Canadians figure out the truth and the reality.
