Small details - hide details—UPDATED

UPDATE:  CBC changes their rendition of the video clip…

Picayune alert:  Mine and the CBC’s.  (Mine’s far less odious).

State-owned CBC Newsworld reports, just now, that the radical left-wing legend in his own mind, Jesse Jackson (hey, how come he’s not described as a member of the “religious left”?  Oh yeah… there’s no such thing), uttered some real nasty, nasty words about their hero, Barack Obama, yesterday.  That it and of itself is painful for the CBC.  Left on Left action.  How embarrassing.  (See Jackson’s words here).

image Sadly for the state-owned CBC which loathes Fox News Channel and everything it stands for (manifestly that they’re fair and balanced and present the conservative points of view in addition to the liberal and far-left point of view, rendering it “unfair” and “biased”), the clip appeared exclusively on… Fox News Channel.  On their nemesis Bill O’Reilly’s O’Reilly Factor, no less.  (O’Reilly is the one who coined the phrase “The Spin Stops Here!”, which CBC’s “Politics” show host Don Newman now also claims as his show’s motto, rendering no end of laughter amongst normal, sensible Canadians who aren’t high on crack.  Newman’s the one who explained that “NAFTA-Gate” is “what it’s called”.  Spin yer partner round and round!….)

Avoiding even uttering the dreaded words “Fox News Channel”, the obedient CBC Newsworld anchor manages to misinform viewers by telling Canadians that Jesse Jackson clip appeared on “the Fox TV Network”.

And in replaying the clip for Canadians, they even managed to block from our view the Fox News Channel logo and the O’Reilly Factor logo with their own logo and banner and taxpayer-paid obliterating techniques.  Other news channels who reported the story didn’t.

This is how it appeared on Fox News Channel:

Even MSNBC, which hates Fox News Channel and Bill O’Reilly almost as much as the CBC, even managed to present the clip in realistic form by slightly shrinking the Fox News Channel screen to make the logos visible.

But by the time the CBC got it, this is how it appeared (yes, over that all-important banner informing you that you should read this as a humorous suggestion that Obama get testicle-cutting-off “surgery”, oh ha-ha-haaa:

If it were a Republican supporter who had said anything like this (and just imagine if it were a female he were addressing the remarks to, and a female body part), there’d be an eight-part “Passionate Eye” series broadcast all summer long on the state-owned media.  The CBC kids commenting at CBC.ca would be apoplectic and call for jail time for the “religious right” “nut”.

And the Fox News Channel name and logo would be highlighted in yellow marker along with the O’Reilly Factor logo, and the banner might read “Religious Right Republican Bashes Women”…

UPDATE – 12:35 PM PT (roughly)

The (roughly) 12:35 PM PT rendition of the story on CBC Newsworld has a slightly different video presentation, in which the Fox News Channel logo at left is now visible.  They still didn’t shrink the video so as to display the entire Fox News Channel screen, as I would have and other broadcasters did, but they took away the “SURGERY SUGGESTED” banner of hilarity while the FNC clip was being shown, revealing the FNC logo.  The CBC logo is maintained in position, blocking the O’Reilly Factor logo.  And the story repeated the false notion that the subject story appeared on the “Fox TV network”.

Here they are side by side — old and revised:

Keep spinning, CBC.
