A PTBC reader named “neocon” deftly caught this intriguing juxtaposition between a reputedly “conservative-tolerant” newspaper, the National Post, and what is undoubtedly one of the most left-wing mainstream papers in North American, the Toronto Star.
About Liberal-leftist Bob Rae running for the Liberal Party nomination in Toronto Centre (a.k.a. liberal central), the National Post’s John Ivison wrote in his column about the inter-Liberal competition:
The choice is between gay United Church minister Rob Oliphant, feisty lesbian human rights lawyer Meredith Cartwright and, worst of all if you’re from trueblue Rosedale, Bob Rae.
About that same story, the leftist Toronto Star printed a CP article:
One such candidate — Toronto lawyer Meredith Cartwright — had even begun an online petition asking party leader Stephane Dion to allow an open nomination contest.
Another potential candidate is Rob Oliphant, a United Church minister with deep roots in the party.
Toronto Star? Where’s the gay? Not gay at all. No gayness. Not there! Sans les homos. No potential agendas attached to them. Nope. Move along! Nothing to see here, folks. We’ll decide what’s important for you to know, and delete the rest… don’t worry, we’re the liberal media! You can count on us to report the news—which is to say that part of it which we want you to know before casting your vote!
Where’s that gay pride? (Perhaps all those gay pride festivals need still more taxpayer funding!)
Meanwhile, in Liberal-led BC, the liberals there are engaged in an insane ideological experiment with our nations’ children, their education, their values and conscience, and family upbringing, and society in general (read a brief background report on that here). The benevolent liberal-leftists in the BC Liberal government, which as we know no people could figure how to live without much less educate and raise one’s own kids, has employed a gay male “married’ couple to have them re-write the entire school curriculum for the folks whose kids attend public schools (they’re talking about enforcing this, by law, on private schools too), because the curriculum wasn’t gay enough yet. Apparently gays know best! ‘Specially the leftist ones! And governments! Or a combo of all three! Better than stupid mom and dad and their stupid values! Anyway the point is that the trendy new post-modern liberal-leftist religion dictates that the kids’ school curriculum include references to gayness at every possible opportunity.
Their method is somewhat at odds with the Toronto Star. But then the Toronto Star is talking about folks to vote for in the future. My guess is that that’s the difference here.
