President Obama signs tough anti-smoking bill without coughing (or smirking) once

imagePeople who smoke are among the top five concerns of liberals.  (Islamist extremists and terrorists are number six; tyrannical dictators in Iran and North Korea are number seven. Teen.)

So in between taking drags of his Teleprompter Kings (or whatever brand he smokes), and while Iranians are being beaten and shot and imprisoned by agents of the Mullahs who run Iran and suicide bombs are ignited in Iraq and his economy is in a shambles and his deficit and debt are now historically bad, President Obama pretended that one of his major concerns today is… Americans smoking.

As the Example to Young People In-Chief, without coughing even once, and with a straight face, Puff Puff Obama lectured Americans about smoking.  He seemed to blame his own smoking habit, which he today admitted starting before age 18 (but which he failed to admit he hasn’t been able to quash yet) on… the tobacco companies.  And… all that corporate advertising.  Not on… himself, of course.  He’s a victim.  The government will therefore save him.  (Since he is the government, he will save himself, theoretically).  With a government program.

“Fair enough,” Obama said. …

WH Press Secretary Gibbs:  “Obama Struggles ‘Every Day’ Against Smoking”

Does President Obama still smoke?

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs won’t say, but he acknowledged today that the president continues to struggle to control the habit.

“I would simply tell you I think struggling with a nicotine addiction is something that happens every day,” Gibbs said at today’s press briefing.

•  Pre-election:  Liberals show their real, great compassion:

Pre-election, the liberal blog Slate.com showed their great care and concern about smoking by agonizing over their man quitting smoking before he wins the election, fearing that quitting might wreck his “magical” voice.

Smoker’s Voice—How Obama’s filthy habit could win him the presidency.

Barack Obama has the sort of voice that political consultants dream of:  It’s authoritative but comforting, rich and resonant and wise … Obama’s magic voice … Here’s the problem: If he quits, Obama may lose that wonderful maple-syrup sound just as he begins running in earnest.

But everyone else must quit.  Do it NOW.  For we will support laws to force you to quit!
