Obama in Russia: Teleprompter-a-palooza!

President Barack Obama’s foreign policy:  All syrupy speech, no substantive pro-American action.

Here’s a microcosm of Obama’s speeches made during Obama’s much ballyhooed (by the fawning liberal media) trip to Russia to meet with grownups, in which he seemed to spend the entire time reading out pre-written speech after pre-written speech, off teleprompters shipped to Russia on a fleet of Air Force cargo jets:

“Grandiose grandiose, uh, grandiose pause hope uh.  Aaaaaand, uh, democracy we’re sorry grandiose statemento du jour.  Change is hope is, uh [raise chin].  Global recession we inherited, uh.  Memorable lines (written by speechwriters and read by me off teleprompters) are the most important thing in any democracy for hope and progressive change.  As an African I can tell you that.  Puffy, puffy puffy feel-good.  Progressive shared with the world through the U.N. and community groups like ACORN work to spread the wealth mostly to those who didn’t work for it, but, uh, own it, the people who don’t work and unions who built America into the constantly mistaken country it is, uh, today.  [Raise chin even higher] Bromide, grandiose blather mucka muck.  Race is not an issue.  And we feel great sorrow for being so great.  As a black man I can tell you the deficit we inherited is big.  [Raise chin so high that I have to look down my cheeks to see you]  It will take years to undo the deficit and debt we inherited from the past eight years.  Fox News Channel hates me [knowing smile, pause for applause].  We apologize to Europe and Iran, as a nation, for that injustice.  For the past eight years.  And for America generally.  Uh.  Aaaaand we stand with you and, uh, your opposition. Grandiose.  Let’s be friends, unclench your fist, social justice, economic justice, blibity-doo-da-day.  And then we’ll have a meeting of the minds and talk, talk about the progressive action to conquer war and non-friendliness, the world over, which we cause as Americans, and we apologize.  Housing justice.  We can try to do better but we inherited eight years of deficits and war and meaniness.  Education is the key. And free health care.  Corporations don’t run our country, I do.  Government does.  [Raise chin so high now that it’s like Jay Leno on steroids] And we will free you from the binds of corporate evility.  Environmental justice.  Compassion and empathy is the key.  Health care, education, compassion, being friends with Europe, and empathy are the keys.  Highfalutin grandiose, elite jingo jango jibba jabba.  Thank you!  [Flash peace sign, exhibit teeth].”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Putin seemed to sort of bitch clap President Obama and his fawning media who have been casting this whole summit as a reparation of the horrible relations caused by “the Bush Years” (see yesterday’s hilariously bad CBC coverage).

Putin praises Bush hospitality during Obama visit

Tue Jul 7, 2009 4:22am EDT

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin praised the hospitality and openness of U.S. former President George W. Bush in a telegramme sent hours before meeting his successor Barack Obama.

“During the last years we have been working on strengthening Russia-U.S. cooperation. Although there were differences between our countries, I always valued your openness and sincerity,” Putin said, congratulating Bush on his 63rd birthday on July 6.

“With special warmth I recall your hospitality in the Crawford ranch and your family estate in Kennebunkport,” Putin wrote, referring to their 2007 meeting at the Bush family vacation home when the two leaders went fishing and ate lobster. …
