NewsQuips? They’re a sort of news “speed round”, consisting of news headlines that need to be brought up because they’re marginally interesting on some level (sometimes you have to squeeze your brain cheeks really hard to detect the interest), or because of their abject stupidity (think CBC headlines), or because they are just ripe for a sound mocking (think CBC), but they don’t stand up to the rigid qualifications necessary to attain top level positions or status as separate, dedicated blog entries to which we really need to pay attention or take seriously. Sort of like 90% of the politicians currently holding office, particularly cabinet or “Czar” positions.
They’re updated through the day to sucker you into coming back to PTBC repeatedly, possibly mesmerizing you into buying a PTBC flag pin.
1. Orwellian liberals run amok: Instructions from the government if you live in Durham, North Carolina:
Democratic Party-affiliated mayor proclaims today “Global Day of Happiness”.
It’s IRONY in ACTION! Fact is, that’s just sad.
Please, people —I implore you—read the book 1984 by George Orwell, then Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg, perhaps also Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, Common Sense by Glenn Beck, and any number of other books on politics on our PTBC Amazon store page. And watch the CBC news for ten minutes. And re-read this story on the mayor proclaiming “Global Day of Happiness”. Compare and contrast. (EXTRA INFO: On a pre-election info page, the mayor lists one of his heroes as W. E. B. Du Bois. A communist.)
2. HOW MANY CANADIAN POLITICIANS SHOULD FOLLOW SUIT?
(And Obama’s Czars)
A former U.K. liberal-left cabinet minister (Labor Party) who quit after being involved in some controversies, admits she didn’t have a clue what she was doing when she was appointed as a cabinet minister by the Labor Party Prime Minister of the U.K..
Jacqui Smith has admitted she was not up to being Home Secretary – and should have been given some proper training before she was handed the job.
Ms Smith, who is likely to be remembered for claiming expenses for a porn film watched by her husband, said any success she had was down to luck rather than skill.
She added: “When I became Home Secretary I’d never run a major organisation. I hope I did a good job but if I did it was more by luck than by any kind of development of skills.
She’s a living, breathing, walking “Quip”.
3. (Re Globe and Mail article as seen at left) Have they got a crystal ball? How do they know he’s going to break his wrist in fall? It’s still only summer. Those dour party-poopers.
4. TimesWatch.org ruins the Happy Day of Official Government-Mandated Global Hahas (or whatever it’s called) —or rather a liberal New York Times columnist, Mark Leibovich, does. The NYT writes, in a message obviously to liberals in Congress, imploring them to pass the Obama “health care” plans:
“Some hold out hope that Mr. Kennedy can make a last-ditch appeal to his Republican friends—a kind of dying wish—to support the legislation so he can complete his life’s work.”
Dying wish? Oh happy day. How damn happy is that. The guy is ruminating about Ted Kennedy’s death even while he’s alive. Bloody hell. Let’s drink.
