National Post backs Harper and a Conservative majority

image
The National Post has come out of the closet and endorsed Harper and the Conservatives and a Conservative majority.

I’m actually a little surprised.  In their news pages, there is scarcely a hint that they support Harper or any Conservative or indeed conservative policies, as I’ve pointed out countless times over the past two years in blog entry after blog entry with examples of striking, excellently posed color picture after picture of Obama and Dion, and columnists like Don Martin on the front page in which the news is that he finds fault in the vacuum of outer space (today’s front page column: “The Canadian Club crowd yesterday looked suspiciously packed with students and Conservative candidates.”    ooh! Imagine that—and in an election campaign yet!).

…Faced with these high stakes, we believe, Canada would be best served if Stephen Harper’s Conservative government were to receive a second mandate, this time in majority form … We have no illusions that Mr. Harper’s government has been perfect. …

They, along with the rest of the liberal media, have all but stymied conservative policy formation in this country, and neatly tucked themselves into the same bed as Barack Obama.  They constantly featured the wisdom of Liberals and Stephane Obama and Jack Dion and Elizabeth Biden. They’ve “invested” so much ink lambasting Stephen Harper and Team Conservative, and pointed out no end of their supposed “gaffes” —to the point where the media generally actually made themselves appear completely idiotic to me.

The National Post could have separated themselves from the rest of the liberal mainstream media once and for all, and made real journalistic strides in the process, by pointing out (starting from the campaign’s early days) the now clearly obvious abject bias and perfidy of the liberal mainstream media.  The fact that they have now dropped all pretense of “fair and balanced”.  THAT story was and remains the ACTUAL news story in this election cycle.  It’s the real news, and is increasingly the real story in Canada and the U.S..  Missing that opportunity is itself a huge gaffe.

imageThe National Post editorial board apparently needs an editor, as they made this GAFFE GAFFE GAFFE in their lead editorial today:

It’s

decision to tax income trusts, in particular,….”

It’s not “It’s”, it’s “Its”

Don Martin:  fabulous grist for the mill, no?  Oh I see.
