Maclean’s seems to suggest young teen pregnancy is cool

image On the heels of a news report—one which was largely hidden by most of the liberal mainstream media—that the number of abortions in the U.S. last year actually decreased to a still utterly horrific 1.2 MILLION abortions (yes, in one year), Canada’s latest Maclean’s magazine is about to hit the stands.  As you can see, they seem to me to suggest: Teenage baby-making is cool!

They do this by way of a question, of course.  As I’ve opined before, that’s one of many devices that wily liberals in the media use when they want to say something that they want you to believe, and yet not appear as though they’re actually saying it as a statement.  For example, the cover didn’t “ask”, “Liberal-left ‘Progressive’ Experiment with Life and Family is Proving a Total Disaster…?”

One of the articles goes on, and on, convincing me that little girls making babies is perfectly acceptable nowadays.  And by the way, forget the father.  Forget getting married.

…However misguided, Dunlop-Powers says that some teens “no longer think there’s a big deal” about having sex — and so, presumably, getting pregnant. As someone in daily contact with adolescents, she says that premarital sex now is a way of life. It is not unusual for her to get calls about 12- and 13-year-olds who are expecting babies. “That would have been unheard of a while ago,” she says. “And yet it’s no longer cause for panic.”…

Right.  No biggy.

The feature actually focuses on two young girls (aged 16 and 17) who opted to have sex, then lo and behold, they got pregnant.  They decided to keep their babies—something apparently rather surprising to the McLean’s writer, who asked them if they “seriously” considered abortion.

Maclean’s: Did you seriously consider abortion or adoption as options?

KC (Kayla Clark, 18): My mom looked into abortion at first for me. But because I found out in an ultrasound, the first thing they did was show me the baby’s heartbeat. And right then, I knew I couldn’t get rid of him.

[…]

NF (Nicole Fischer, 17): I would never be able to put up my kid for adoption. My brother’s adopted [out of my family], and it kills me. I would never be able to do that. And abortion is almost as hard as going through the pregnancy. Now that I have him, I see [abortion] as the easy way out.

As sensible people like me know, abortion is the most disgusting, egregious thing ever thought of by humans.  So I’m glad the article didn’t turn out to be another one advocating abortion as the very best answer.  I’m surprised.

But despite excruciating detailed statistics regarding teenage pregnancy and births in the multi-page article (two main articles, actually), they make no mention of the number of abortions here or in the U.S., anywhere in the story.

I do believe abortion is somewhat related to teen pregnancy.  You’d think they’d mention the numbers.  Well actually I guess they do crunch them in one manner of speaking:

“Without the option to terminate a pregnancy, we’ll see a rise in births, says [Andrea O’Reilly, a women’s studies professor at York University in Toronto].”

Oh my.  The mysteries of life.  No word on how the complicated logic might be jumbled if those ever-so “progressive” liberal adults and media simply stopped making teens feel as though it’s all so totally “normal”, and instead, simply implied that they should just stop, you know,  “fornicating”.  This article seems to do the opposite.  It’s cool, baby!

The article just goes on impressing upon us how “normal” it all is now.  The children, with the able support of the liberals and their media, are, to quote one expert in one of their articles, creating “new family models”.  That’s progressive!

…One trend observed by Pauline Paterson, director of the YWCA’s girls and family programs in Scarborough, Ont., is a phenomenon called “multi-daddying.” Teen moms are actually having more than one baby with various fathers as a way of forming bonds with new men in their lives — and it’s yet another way that adolescents are putting their stamp on parenthood and establishing new family models…

Oh good.  More “new family models” invented by liberals.  Go team. Happy “Family Day”, McGuinty!

As I said, a news story just yesterday highlights the latest stats—1.2 million abortion in one year in the U.S..  The number in Canada is roughly 105,000. Per year.  Every year.  The liberals in Canada arranged things in Canada such that there is absolutely no law limiting abortion in Canada at all whatsoever.  No, no limits on the number of abortions, no time limit or cut-off dates (you can get one at 9 weeks or 9 months, or just moments before natural birth.  It simply doesn’t matter to liberals.  Nearly all liberals are in favor of this. They support abortion.  Even late-term abortion.

Moreover, kids in this country are still taught by the ‘experts” that there is such a thing as “safe sex”.  Seriously.  The ‘experts” don’t mention that anywhere in the article.  Here’s a real expert on that:

[KC]:  “…I was on two forms of birth control, and I still got pregnant.”

They don’t go on to explore that phenomenon.
