“I didn’t see this one coming”

I’m constantly amazed at the progress that American science and technology has made in a short amount of time, but just like porn on daytime and evening television and hearing about Liberal Party corruption scandals, I’m getting jaded.  It’s getting so that the Americans would have to prove, over and over indefatigably, that their scientific ambitions and success are left wanting.

Liberals need to come forward and explain themselves.  Explain to Canadians why they should refuse to sign-on to America’s ballistic missile defence plan on the ever-so-ingenious basis that “it doesn’t work”, “it’ll never work”, oh and “it’s a plan of idiots” (

TM

Liberal Carolyn Parrish who is not an idiot).

One lesson the liberal world should learn even if only begrudgingly, is to never underestimate the ability of American technology and know-how to come up with a plan that works, especially when life and death are at stake.  And also that “luck” is a relative term.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – In a stroke of luck, the NASA rover Opportunity has discovered a basketball-size metal meteorite sitting on the surface of Mars, the mission’s main scientist said Tuesday.

Scientists believe the meteorite might lead to clues about how Martian winds are reshaping the planet’s surface. Opportunity came upon the meteorite last week while performing other tasks. Tests confirmed it was a nickel-iron meteorite, said Steve Squyres, a Cornell University scientist who is the principal investigator for NASA’s Mars Exploration Rovers mission.

“I didn’t see this one coming,” Squyres said.

Liberal Canada doesn’t even look.
