Gwyne Dyer: “The U.S. needs to lose the war in Iraq as soon as possible”

Oh I was so tempted to make this another in my “How Liberals Think” series, then Kate changed my mind.  It’s more about some sort of mental disorder, really.

See, just when I thought the liberals had been convinced that they were dead wrong on most every level—enough to at least take a step back and re-assess—Gwynne Dyer writes a book.

Gwynne Dyer has enjoyed much acclaim by Liberals in Canada, who have supported him with our taxpayer money through the CBC and National Film Board divisions of the Liberal Party.  Thus it should be no surprise that he tows the liberal-left troll line.

But then to compound the idiocy, a fellow moonbat, Jack Lessenberry of the Metro Times (a Detroit “alternative” weekly), reviews it.  Sounds like love.

Gwynne Dyer isn’t exactly a wimp. Not many guys from Newfoundland are. Born during World War II, he has been fascinated by things military all his life, and has served in three navies — ours, Canada’s and Great Britain’s. He has university degrees from all three countries too, and a Ph.D. in military and Middle Eastern history. During the 1980s, he produced and narrated the best documentary series about the nature of war that I’ve ever seen.

And here’s what he says about what we are doing:

“The United States needs to lose the war in Iraq as soon as possible. Even more urgently, the whole world needs the United States to lose the war in Iraq. What is at stake now is the way we run the world for the next generation or more, and really bad things will happen if we get it wrong.”

Just to qualify our sources, let’s take a boo at other items in the same issue of Metro Times—a Detroit “alternative” weekly: for example the “Night & Day” event spotlight of “Choice Picks” going on around Detroit contains this review…

The Dirty Show
February 11-14th
Tangent Gallery, Detroit

Night & Day has attended The Dirty Show since its inception in 2000 and can say with certainty that the fetish-exalting, back-door-sex-loving, pubic-hair-regaling art exhibit has made leaps and bounds in its presentation. Head-pervs-in-charge Jerry Vile and Jeremy Harvey have helped to make the Dirty Show one of the most well-attended and talked-about art installations to come out of Detroit in many moons. They are even taking its salaciously brilliant wares on the road, as The Dirty Show has been invited to show in Miami in October of 2005.

But back in the world of sanity, I stumbled onto a blog entry from July of last year in which blogger Kate of Small Dead Animals wrote:

Gwynne Dyer Moved His Lips

Gwynne Dyer explains the root causes of poverty and female illiteracy in the Arab world;

“… President George W. Bush … West … Western nations … the West … France … U.S. troops … Britain … the CIA … It was Britain that carved … joint Anglo-U.S. project. The British Foreign Office … conspired with France and Israel … West … Washington … U.S. foreign aid … Britain …the West’s purposes. The United States and France … The West … the West … the West…”

There’s no mention of literacy rates in Israel.

Odd, that.

Which reminded me that alas, there are good people in the world.
