Cut and run! Globe & Mail on “Liberals have given up hope of forming government” whine

image This is somehow unnatural, if I understand correctly.  They’re the “Natural Governing Party”, by gum!  And that li’l Liberal Frenchman Stephane Dion—why he’s the “Green Guru”.    He’s “gaffe” free!  Vree much to make not the gaffe hall de times!

And still the Conservatives are up in the polls.  And that ain’t liberal!  It ain’t right.

Liberals—even in the media—seem to be ready to give up.  They seem prepared to engage their exit strategy at this time:  cut and run/ la coupure et a couru

Liberals shift focus to ‘living for another day’

OTTAWA and WINNIPEG — Stéphane Dion enters the halfway point of the election campaign under fire from members of his own party, many of whom have already given up on forming government.

Some Liberals are framing the weeks ahead as a case of salvaging what they have currently – 95 seats – and ensuring the election campaign does not end in the devastation seen in 1984, when John Turner’s Liberals were reduced to a mere 40 seats.

“Not one, not a single serious Liberal is talking about Stéphane Dion becoming Prime Minister,” a long-time Liberal said. “This is not about beating Harper as PM. This is about living for another day.” …

But I don’t think so.  I see these articles as efforts to rally the troops.

Maybe if the G&M did like their sisters at CTV.ca and included more pictures of Harper looking like Sarah Palin—who may or may not believe she is a “witch” —offering up what looks like a Hitler salute.  And questioning his stance on “hidden agendas”!

And here’s my own gratuitous picture:  It’s what commenters here at PTBC use as their smiley reference to a “French surrenderer”.  image - smiley
