UPDATED: CTV unfazed by their undiplomatic tarnish and disgrace; and suck-up-to-Obama mentality

On a news story of a tragic murder in the U.S., CTV News doesn’t hesitate to decorate their report by tarnishing America, using as a graphical prop the very symbol of that country —their flag — ridden with giant bullet holes in it (as if it’s the flag of Sudan or Somalia or Iraq before America freed it), and for extra flourish, stick a semi-automatic handgun over top of it.

I don’t think depicting the U.S. flag with giant bullet holes in it is the most respectful thing they could think of doing, but obviously, respect was the very last thing on their mind.

Meanwhile, with great respect to Obama, we’re told he is “unfazed”, rather than the very picture of a talking head who can’t even memorize his own rhetoric.  I guess they don’t have any graphics for that.

They immediately rush to protect President Obama with respect to a teleprompter gaffe, as they claim in their banner that he remained “unfazed” by the collapse of his sacred teleprompter, upon which even they — if sheepishly — apparently acknowledge he is completely addicted and reliant.  They choose to depict him as “Mr. Smooth Recovery” or “Mr. In Control”.  The One was somehow able to dodge a bullet and total catastrophe and just pick himself up, dust himself off, and carry right on with his glorious speech as if he didn’t even need the stupid thing to string more than three magical (and smart!) sentences together.  Wow.  What a guy.

They conveniently ignored the fact that (as their own picture shows) while one pod fell over, teleprompters always have at least two pods to look at, so as to enable the user to fake people out and, as if acting in a lousy Hollywood sitcom, pretend he’s simply talking off the top of his head, casually glancing left and right, rather than studiously reading text off a prepared script because he couldn’t even memorize his own awesome talking points.  And of course he’s shown looking right at the one remaining one, as you can see.

They also failed to show any “applause” signs in the room, but that’s because reporters just do it automatically after every “off-the-cuff” Obama speech, and that’s one prop they really don’t need.

Shoot some holes in that.

UPDATE (10:08 AM PDT):
They have now removed the offensive graphic of the U.S. flag with bullet holes strewn all over it by their journalistic “artists”.
