Cdn Taxpayers Fed has a petition demanding a public audit and return of cash

I wrote a blog entry on March 11/05 suggesting that among other things, we should launch a class-action lawsuit against the Liberal Party of Canada to recover the millions—hundreds of millions—they allegedly stole from us.

I wrote:

“Or perhaps a taxpayer-led $250 million class-action lawsuit against the Liberal Party of Canada, where taxpayers would simply get their hard-earned cash back.”

Last night I got this email from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (I’m a member).

Dear Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) supporters:

Attached is a petition directed to the Liberal Party of Canada demanding their financial books be subject to a forensic audit in light of testimony at the Gomery Inquiry investigating the sponsorship program.  Please distribute it to friends, family and colleagues.

Your CTF is further investigating the prospect of a class action lawsuit against the Liberal Party of Canada on behalf of Canadian taxpayers.  We’ll keep you posted.

Finally, with the prospect of a federal election in the air we are tracking and tabulating the alarming number and size of spending announcements.  In addition, we are opposing any ‘special deals’ cooked up between Jack Layton and Paul Martin which would damage the economy and cost taxpayers dearly.

Yours in accountable government,

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation

I support the CTF and hope you all do too.  Here is a copy of the PDF file that you can print out and sign—and pass around to get others to sign too.  Then you just fax it or mail it in to the CTF.
