Canadians moving south in big numbers

Americans northward?  Not so much.

Well this is odd, since we have “free” health care in Canada, and down in the American-style U.S. folks sell their homes and all their possessions —if they have any! — in order to get some health care (otherwise they and their children die —in the streets! —as I understand it from liberals).

Plus there’s very little use for gay marriage in the U.S populous, and there’s the fact that the Americans are “morons” and their leader, and by implication the entire country, are war criminals what with that Iraq thing; and they suffer from a general lack of the liberals’ “Canadian values” (liberal-style, as defined and described by liberals), like social programs for every conceivable thing.

Maybe we should have a look at what those wily Americans offer that we could offer.  Just kidding—too radical!

OTTAWA—More Canadians and Americans are taking a shine to each other’s country as a place to live, although the number of people relocating south of the border remains significantly higher than the number heading north.

[…] It says the number of Canadians admitted to the U.S. last year reached almost 21,900, a 15-year high. The only other year in recent memory during which admissions to the U.S. came close was in 2001 when the tally was 21,740. The 2005 total was up from 15,600 in 2004 and 11,350 in 2003.

By multiplying the number of Canadians moving south by nine or ten, we’d get a rough idea of what it would look like if things were equal, insofar as Americans moving north.  So the number of Americans moving north should be 190,000 to 210,000.  Instead, only roughly 8100 Americans are expected to move north this year.  That’s only four percent of what you’d expect, and when you re-read that opening words in the news article knowing that, it sure changes the validity of it somewhat doesn’t it?

So that’s all odd, considering what I’m led to believe by liberals.

The figures also suggest that Canadians entering the United States prefer the southern states. California attracted the most in 2005 at 2,670, followed by Florida at 2,181, and Texas at 1,929.
