A couple of investors in a film about John F. Kerry, which they say was touted by the producers as commercially viable (Canadians: that means “profitable”—yeah I know—sans government!), are suing the producers of the film. They now say it seems it was really simply about getting Kerry elected. Liberals are brilliant at hindsight.
Which makes me wonder if Michael Moore’s investors are going to sue Moore for making a film that helped get President George W. Bush elected. Or for being hoodwinked over the idea that it was “fact-based” which in hindsight must be pretty embarrassing even to liberals.
NEW YORK – Two investors have sued a filmmaker for allegedly misleading them about plans for a documentary on the life of presidential candidate John Kerry.
The federal lawsuit filed Monday says brothers Marc Abrams and Russell Abrams were misled into thinking that George Butler, a longtime Kerry friend, and the film’s producers were trying to make a commercially successful film.
Instead, the brothers allege that “Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry” was intended primarily to influence the 2004 presidential election in favor of the Democratic senator from Massachusetts.
A lawyer for the brothers, Kenneth Sussmane, said Marc Abrams is seeking to recover $50,000 and Russell Abrams $125,000. Sussmane said the lawsuit also seeks damages of $1.3 million.
Butler said the lawsuit’s allegations are “baseless and insulting to the artistic integrity of the film.”
