I’ve said this a number of times now—this is not new. During last year’s federal election, at a news media huddle at a big-city mayor’s conference, the neo-communist Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell proclaimed (I heard it over the radio with my own hairy ears) that conservatives were “barbarians” Again: barbarians.
That’s me and my wife. Barbarians. Although I suppose my wife is just a tiny little barbarian at 105 pounds.
Oh yeah and after years of leftist rule in Vancouver, this story popped-up this week:
Vancouver tries to clean up problem of people defecating in street
VANCOUVER (CP) – The ripe stench of human excrement is getting stronger in downtown lanes, curling the stomachs of workers who no longer want to relax by the back door for smoke breaks.
“We’re getting to the point where the need for public toilets is getting serious,” said Charles Gauthier, executive director of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association.
“There’s a burgeoning entertainment district, a growing homelessness problem and people have nowhere to go.
“I’ve been with the association for 15 years and it’s just becoming more and more of an issue for more of our members. The stench of urine and feces in back lanes in the central business district and the Downtown Eastside, where it’s probably a lot worse.”
The 10-block city slum is swollen with up to 5,000 injection drug users who have less control of their bowels. Many are homeless and have nowhere to go to the toilet. […]
One of the first acts of the neo-communist (but very progressive!) Vancouver city council was to hire street performers to entertain them at the start of their weekly council meetings, which carries on to this day. They also hand out free syringes to druggies and provide them a place to shoot up—even supplying the drugs. For free. Now they want to legalize pot and sell it in the streets.
These are the priorities of Larry Campbell and his progressive (NDP-backed) COPE party team.
That’s progressive!
