Toronto Sun on Conservatives’ next moves

In light of the most recent of numerous polls indicating their unpopularity which amazingly follows the fantastic moves to the left to appease the “moderates” (or as we conservatives call them, “liberals”), the Conservative Party is getting a full compliment of sage advice from all corners.

I’ve suggested that rather than be Liberal Party Too, they act like “a conservative party” and express actual “conservative ideas” to Canadians.  “Lead Canadians”.  Junk like that.  But I think they’re against that.

Today’s Toronto Sun editorial says:

He must explain to voters why backroom Liberal-NDP deals which irresponsibly add billions of dollars in vague “social spending” to our federal budget, simply so a desperate Martin can cling to power for a few more months, are bad for the country.

And he should stick with his principled position on same-sex marriage, as opposed to the Liberals who have shamelessly reversed themselves in the space of a few years.

Ultimately, Harper and the Conservatives must fight the next election based on their own positive vision for the future of Canada and on the things they believe in, not on promising to be like Liberals, only without the corruption. Then they must trust the voters and let the chips fall where they may.

I think people should be themselves.  If they’re not conservatives, they won’t act like conservatives.
