Wow: Suddenly ‘Kyoto’ has “costs” attached to it. And wow: They’re rising already. Wow.

Slow the economy down.  Or raise taxes.  Or dramatically increase the cost of all goods by adding still more regulations.  Or restrict our buying and lifestyle freedoms.  Or cut back on defence spending.  Or reduce health care spending.  Or entirely kill the CBC.  Or all this and more. 

That’s what it will take to contain the liberal-left’s insane Kyoto agreement and its costs over the years.  No worries—the benevolent liberal government will soon have all of us on some form of national, universal welfare or subsidy program to rescue us.  The “rich” will pay.  “Corporations” will pay.  All 42 of ‘em.  That’s progressive.  That’s liberal. 

The liberal-friendly Globe and Mail reports (reluctantly, no doubt) what conservatives have been saying over and over at least ten thousand times for many years:

OTTAWA—The full cost to Ottawa of meeting Canada’s targets for fighting global warming under the controversial Kyoto accord could exceed $10-billion, senior federal cabinet ministers have been warned.

That’s twice what the federal government has budgeted so far for Kyoto.

The estimates—one of a number of attempts to quantify the ultimate cost of Kyoto—rose out of recent consultations between bureaucrats in Natural Resources Canada and Environment Canada.

Cabinet ministers on a special cabinet committee tackling Kyoto were briefed on the ballooning cost estimate last week, federal sources say.

Ottawa is also being advised it should raise its estimate of the emissions cuts necessary to meet Canada’s Kyoto targets to between 270 and 300 megatonnes from earlier forecasts of 240 megatonnes.

That reflects the fact that Canada’s economy has expanded faster than expected, emitting more greenhouse gases as a result. [… read the rest (10 seconds) …]

Imagine if the media weren’t so liberal.  Imagine if the things that conservatives thought—were allowed to be aired freely in the media on a timely basis. 

(By the way, let’s go with that “…entirely kill the CBC” thing in any case.  I said it as if it were a negative before—I didn’t mean to.)
