Associated Press reports that demonstrators wave Lebanese flags and portraits of slain former Premier Rafik Hariri in Beirut on Monday. Hundreds of thousands of Lebanese answered a call for a massive protest to demand a full Syrian troop withdrawal from Lebanon, resignations of security chiefs and an international investigation into the death of Hariri.
Liberals in Canada blame “Bush” for this demand for freedom and democracy, with some in the Ottawa region blaming additionally “Halliburton”.
