U.N. to Iran: Stop nuke program or… we’ll have to tell you again!

Of course to liberals, this file is indeed a conundrum.  Let’s invoke a Coulterism:  Hold up a picture of George Bush and one of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (or Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden…) and ask a liberal which one is the bad guy, and the liberal will point to George Bush.

Iran welcomes showdown on deadline day

CTV.ca News Staff

On the day the United Nations deadline to stop enriching uranium expires, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took a strong stance in defiance of the order.

Ahmadinejad said Iran will not be bullied by threats of international sanctions.

“The Iranian nation will not accept for one moment any bullying, invasion and violation of its rights,” he told a large crowd in the northwestern city of Orumiyeh on Thursday.

The UN Security Council demanded that Iran halt its enrichment activities or face repercussions. Iran’s refusal to comply will be detailed in a confidential Thursday report to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s 35 member nations.

The report could spark action on the part of the Security Council, possibly calling in economic or political sanctions by as early as mid-September.

Ahmadinejad said his country is united in standing up for its nuclear rights, despite the fact that Iran’s enemies are trying to drive wedges among the people.

“I tell them: you are wrong. The Iranian nation is united,” he said.

“They claim to be supporting freedom but they support the most tyrannical governments in the world to pursue their own interests,” he said, referring to the U.S., a member of the Security Council.

“They talk about human rights while maintaining the most notorious prisons. Those powers that do not abide by God and follow evil are the main source of all the current problems of mankind.”

I don’t know.  Iran… the U.S…. hmmm.  Which one would I support in terms of freedom and human rights and not being, you know, medieval?  Hmmm.  Gosh I just don’t know.
