Further to my much appreciated post regarding Canada nearly falling of a list of economically free countries (see here, where liberals give you a sample of the love and denial in their comments), a web site called AccountingWeb.com…

“To inform, to enrich, to enlighten, to entertain”
…does the exact same thing and takes a critical view of their country’s place on the list (their country being the liberals’ arch-rival, the evil United States). The nasty headline is: “U.S. Falls out of the Index of Economic Freedom’s Top 10”. This is the stuff that liberal dreams are made of. Just don’t do it in Canada, though, apparently, because it’s run by liberals.
“The United States is resting on its laurels while innovative countries around the world are changing their approaches and reducing their roadblocks,” said Marc Miles, a co-editor of the book, along with Ed Feulner and Mary Anastasia O’Grady. “The U.S. is eating the dust of countries that have thrown off the 20th-century shackles of big government spending and massive federal programs.”
The liberal-left in Canada seems to enjoy the dust and is intent on remaining shackled. Could be a sex thing. Don’t know. Liberal Prime Minister Paul (“we lead the word”) Martin has stated emphatically that his top priority is not tax relief (and such) but rather building up federal spending on massive federal social programs and even creating whole new ones because we don’t have enough yet—like the coming new national universal child daycare plan which is, according to the liberals, being designed to be just like Canada’s health care system. Beauty!
As I did, the article goes on to relate where the U.S. falls on the list, which is not very high—but (cover your eyes, libbies) ahead of Canada, contrary to what you’d expect after all the liberal-left rhetoric:
[…] The U. S. recorded an overall score of 1.85 for the second consecutive year, making it one of 17 countries rated as having “free” economies. Another 56 countries finished between 2.0 and 3.0 and are considered “mostly free,” 70 finished between 3.0 and 4.0 and received a “mostly unfree” rating, and 12 were considered “repressed.”
In my little post I noted how Canada is just about off the “Free” category, and was roundly criticized by liberals for pointing that out, because the truth hurts, and to paraphrase the grumpy liberals: gosh, the state-run CBC division of the Liberal Party doesn’t report this stuff and hurt our heads and ruin our otherwise successful campaign of liberal-left mendacity in convincing Canadians that liberals are turning Canada into such a terrific place. And we love it just the way it is without taking a critical view and improving anything ever. That’s progressive. Now shut up and leave Canada.
