No, apparently there are no winners here. Not even the kids, or families, or a community’s sense of normalcy; or, God forbid, decency. None.
And note that unlike Prime Minister Harper visiting a Canadian mining business while in Chile, this gay strip bar idea is not the least bit “controversial” or “damaging” to anything in any way whatsoever (except liberalism perhaps, and thus the story is written as it was).
Rejection of gay strip bar hurts Windsor tourism, critics complain

Published: Wednesday, July 18, 2007They come from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Florida and California to take part in a burgeoning industry for Windsor—gay tourism. And city council’s decision Monday to deny a gay bar’s request to convert part of its building into a strip club turns away tourism dollars, say people in the industry. “It’s so sad they wouldn’t get it,” Eddie An, operator of The Tap, a gay strip club in Windsor, said yesterday. “I don’t think they’re competition. I think it would have been another attraction for people from the States … It is good for our whole group if we can attract more people to Windsor.” City council voted 6-4 against allowing The Wellington to convert into a strip club. Most councillors cited concerns about setting a precedent for violating bylaws. One city official said the rules changed in 2003 to prevent adult clubs from opening within 150 metres of parks, schools and residential areas.
Maybe the newspaper just ran out of ink ribbons in their typewriters and so they couldn’t write about all the people who are happy about the decision, and about those who will gain from this, namely ev-er-y one.
