I’ve read many accounts of yesterday’s horrendous events in London as committed by those barbarians. And indeed, I’ve seen the word “barbarian” used several times as the word chosen by many thoughtful people to describe the quality of men and women who commit this sort of evil. Barbarians is no doubt what they are. There is no better use for that moniker.
But I also have my eye on Canada—how we react, what we’re thinking, how we’d deal with it, how we face the reality of the barbaric, terrorist threat. And I can’t get out of my mind off of what I find is really very revealing of the lack of sophistication and reality and balance and world-view, as exemplified by the Mayor of Vancouver, the NDP-backed neo-communist Larry Campbell.
In an effort to ensure that the liberal-left would win last year’s federal election in Canada, he found it appropriate to call conservatives (that’s me and my wife): “barbarians”. That was said in a news scrum during a meeting of big-city mayors from across Canada.
All conservatives—Canadians who, like me, exercise our right to vote right. Barbarians.
Nobody talks about it except me. That says a lot about Canada I think.
