PTBC Quote of the Week Award - June 17 2008

In the House of Commons question period today:  It was another totally normal day. Time was totally wasted, and liberal-leftists got lots of face time on camera denouncing their country as usual.  Our economy’s a mess!  People are out of work!  It’s getting real baaaad!  The environment is a total disaster in this country!  One dude’s ex-girlfirend’s mother got a low-level government job once!

image imageThe Liberal MP John McCallum (from the genus Marmota) asks the prime Minister an anger-filled, screeching question.  This one’s designed, it seems to me, to denigrate the real state of our country’s economy by listing one negative statistic after another, sort of like the liberals’ CBC division does all day long, and possibly help wreck the economy through doom and gloom economic alarmism and abject pessimism, in order to regain liberal-left power over us so they can raise taxes and “progress” forth with such things as their state-run national child care (and “early learning” —wink!) institutions to plug our children into every morning.

Prime Minister Harper answers as follows:

PTBCwares C2007

Well on the contrary, Mr Speaker, in spite of challenges that we know exist in the economy—the reality is that we continue to have overall strong employment and income growth.  Part of the reason for that Mr. Speaker is that this government has cut taxes across the board—it’s cut personal taxes, it’s cut consumption taxes, it’s cut business taxes, and Mr. Speaker, every single time we’ve cut those taxes —every, single, time—the Liberal Party has opposed those things.  Mr. Speaker, now the Liberal Party wants to raise taxes across the board as part as its insane environmental and economic policies—that’s wrong for Canada.

But Mr. Speaker, let me tell you something, these guys can call in the Auditor-General, they can call in the RCMP, they can call in whoever they want, when they try to claim a new tax is ‘revenue neutral’, nobody’s going to buy it.

Except CBC viewers.
