CTV anchor lobs smoochy fluffballs to Liberal Paul Martin and goads him to attack Harper

imageCTV Newsnet news anchor Jacqueline Milczarek once again conducted what I think was a questionable interview with a liberal today, as she did just yesterday.  At least this time she had to identify the guest as a Liberal, since the interview was with the failed Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin.

And much as she did yesterday, Milczarek revealed her blatant love and admiration for the liberal-left world view and their yummy talking points by actually helping him make those points, and by goading him into answering questions designed to denigrate the current government.  See if you don’t agree as you read this partial transcript (the whole interview on this “news” story lasted about NINE long minutes).

Catch all those hardball questions!  They’re the ones after the 800-word setups which you’d be forgiven for confusing with foreplay.

Jacqueline Milczarek:  And and it all ties in, right?  And I think that’s what you’re pointing out there.  Uh not only indigenous people here but the Inuit in Canada, uh let me ask you we know a lotta Canadians are gunna wanna learn more about the Congo Basin simply because we’re talking about it because you’re involved,  we know that Canadians in general are passionate on the environment that’s why we know Liberal leader Stephane Dion is gunna roll out this carbon tax plan, perhaps as soon as tomorrow.  Let me ask you do you think he’s on the right track with that plan?!

(Surprise Martin answer:  Yes!…)

Jacqueline Milczarek:  And you know many are praising Dion for stepping forward and also being a leader on this as you are, uh but there are those who say he’s not a leader—he shouldn’t be a leader—you’re a fellow Quebecer, there is some anger in Quebec over his lack of leadership some would say, is that disheartening to you?!

(Surprise Martin answer:  Yes!… oh I think he’s a very strong leader!…

Jacqueline Milczarek:  Mr. Martin just wanna ask you uh a point on the economy you were finance minister for many years, you did a tremendous job slaying the deficit.  We’ve got uh an economy now that is suffering, we have Air Canada cutting 2000 jobs, we have the Oshawa Ontario truck plant slated to close, umm, what advice can you give to the government right now to mitigate the economic effects of these high, oil, prices

(Surprise Martin answer:  ..Governments have gotta step in!…)

Jacqueline Milczarek

[trying again]

Is there one specific thing though the government you feel can do right now?

(Surprise Martin answer:  ..something similar to “Yes! … Governments have gotta step in!…”)

Jacqueline Milczarek:  So Mr. Martin, in the U.S. they have Al Gore, we now have you as this environmental crusader, uh for those Canadians who wanna learn more about the Congo basin who wanna become mobilized

[hey there’s that “mobilize” word again!]

themselves, is there a web site or how can you uh direct them to more information?

(Surprise Martin answer:  … I think that’s a very good idea!  I think this fund should set up a web site … and you’re absolutely right! …so you may well have made a suggestion that we should be looking at! )

I think even Martin was embarrassed over the blatant kowtowing.
