Updated as long as there are comments coming in, and/or site-supporting cash. Yesterday yielded ten commenters (three of whom clearly needed to express their abject hate toward me and/or us as conservatives generally); and $5.00 in cash contributions from one person named Alexander E___. And I’m thankful for that, Alexander E___. … Hey maybe I should just charge $5.00 for those liberal-left haters to express their hate! Or would that be a “human rights” violation?
1. Vancouver Sun’s main political editorialist, Barbara Yaffe gets front page attention again today (the entire front page of today’s “news” paper is once again nothing but her flaccid opinion, and of course yet another huge picture of a smilin’ Obama, their leader). Her opinion is under the Sun’s huge opinion-based headline, “Obama’s win signals a larger role for Canada in managing North America”.
First reaction: A larger role? W H A T ?
Second reaction: President Obama will first have to figure out that the leader of Canada isn’t actually the President of Canada (play 13-second video at left).
Third reaction, after actually reading the obtuse opinion expressed in the soon-to-be starter for tonight’s roaring fireplace fire: Bunkum.
2. Now you report it: “As the presidential campaign comes to a close, a majority of voters (51%) say most reporters have tried to help Barack Obama win the presidency. Just seven percent (7%) think they tried to help John McCain.” – Rasmussen poll released today, confirming about 80 other such polls. … Yet people still watch and read the mainstream media news and take it as fact and truth. And worse: they still watch the CBC.
3. Pinhead on BNN. Al Franken appeared on Canada’s BNN this morning. I could be wrong. He could just be from Toronto. … But for real— re the liar liberal Al Franken (a.k.a. Stuart Smalley): it looks like it’s a tie in his race for a Senate seat, against his Republican opponent, with an automatic recount coming. And yes, eagle eyes (and it does take that because the media isn’t on it) reveal that markets are down today despite the ingenious “business news” prognostication yesterday on the socialism-reliant CBC (see item #3 from yesterday’s NewsQuips), in which they informed us that the markets were up yesterday “because they had factored-in an Obama win” … Exact quote: “Now some analysts do believe the U.S. dollar will strengthen with a Barack Obama win in today’s presidential election … [then later] …now some analysts think they have already priced-in an Obama win…” … Today: dollar is down, TSX is down, DOW is down, S&P is down, NASDAQ is down… CBC is high…
4. Think America went nuts yesterday? Tilted “center-left” suddenly? Not really. Famously liberal California is now officially against gay marriage, and that fact will go right into their constitution —despite San Fransisco and Hollywood, the media, and their academia—and their activist courts. Californians voted FOR a constitutional amendment yesterday (overriding the liberals’ activist courts division), making marriage a man-woman, penis-vagina thing. Almost like they are sane. About 5 MILLION Californians voted FOR the amendment. Ban-gay-marriage amendments were also approved in Arizona and Florida, just as handfuls of other states have in the past, and Arkansas voters approved a measure banning unmarried couples from serving as adoptive or foster parents. … Maybe Ellen will move to France now. To escape the “homophobes” in California. Actually Obama is against gay marriage too. Crickies. What do we do now, Ollie?
5. Obama chooses Rahm (Republicans can “go f_ _ _ themselves!”) Emanuel for Chief of Staff: Apparently, as I predicted on Friday (item #4 from Friday’s NewsQuips), Mr Barack “unity” Obama and Mr. Barack “reaching across the aisle” Obama can both “go f_ _ _ themselves!” in a post Obama winning the election world. … Bill Clinton’s man, Rahm Emanuel, has confirmed he’s been asked by Barack “change” Obama to be Obama’s Chief of Staff, and that he’s accepted. The rabidly partisan Washington insider Rahm Emanuel is reported as saying that Republicans can “go f_ _ _ themselves!” (—Naftali Bendavid, “The House That Rahm Built,” Chicago Tribune, 11/12/06).
6. Toronto Star bitch slaps CBC —First see #3 above. Now see this: In trying to explain today’s fall in the markets, the CBC’s sister in socialism-advocating media, the Toronto Star, wrote today under a headline reading “Dow closes 486 points down on Obama victory”— d’oh! They said that investors ”…began questioning what impact a Barack Obama presidency will have on business and the overall economy.” Ya think?! … No chance the “questioning” began when the markets started collapsing, I guess. … For their part, the CBC simply blamed it on “recession worries”, today. FACT CHECK: It’s the biggest post-election drop in history. … If market go down on Thursday, they will blame it on “the Sarah Palin effect”.
7. Talk about money issues (mine), and Sarah Palin, and things going up and falling down: I just posted this week’s Ann Coulter column and it wins for best headline: “THE REIGN OF LAME FALLS MAINLY ON MCCAIN”.
8. Another blond moment—conservative style: A favorite thinker, Laura Ingraham, writes in her newsletter re post-election lessons and what nows:
…Fourth, communications skills matter. Laugh all you want about Obama’s soaring rhetoric (and we do), there is no doubt that we got beaten in the PR department. We must cultivate a new generation of leaders who are both proud of their conservative beliefs and comfortable articulating them with vision, clarify and optimism.
Fifth, too many Americans—younger people especially—don’t understand conservatism. Obama advertised everything under the sun (health care, tax cuts, expanded government services, compassionate judges, peace in our time). Those who’ve never learned the basics of American history or conservative philosophy have a hard time grasping how anyone could oppose this bill of goods. Part of the answer is taking back our schools and universities. … and start conveying broader principles and truths through direct, pithy language.
Among the primary goals of this site are, and always have been: being able to be proud to be conservative (so much so that I registered the domain name and may even deploy it in place of ProudToBeCanadian, soon); and explaining conservatism and the difference between liberals and conservatives to the folks, in a good, pithy way (“with bite!”). … I may have to register ProudToBite…
