As I posted some time ago, Conservative Newfoundland premier Danny Williams ordered all Canadian flags removed from government buildings to protest the shoddy deceitful treatment the federal Liberals are subjecting them to with yet another of their hidden agendas.
Now various cities in Newfoundland are doing the same and ordering Canadian flags removed from city property.
Those Liberals are such nation-builders. Lose Alberta, toss Newfoundland. Ignore British Columbia. Treat Quebec like a cheap whore. Dismantle Canada’s military defence. Show hate and disdain for our best global friend and neighbor and dither over signing onto the ballistic missile defence program during a war on global terror. Promote abortions, gay marriage and pot-smoking. Vote liberal.
[…] ST. JOHN’S, Nfld. (CP) – The Canadian Maple Leaf has disappeared from more public buildings in Newfoundland, as municipal governments joined a symbolic snub of Ottawa over faltering offshore energy talks.
Officials in St. John’s, Mount Pearl and Corner Brook said Wednesday they have removed Canadian flags from their buildings to show their solidarity with the province in what has become a patriotic-sounding war of words over offshore revenues. “Down she came,” St. John’s Mayor Andy Wells said of the Canadian flag in the front of City Hall.
“The majority of Newfoundlanders support Premier Williams’ position on this issue – it’s part of a larger problem we have with our whole relationship with Canada,” said Wells. […]
In Mount Pearl, Mayor Steve Kent has replaced the Maple Leaf with the pink, white and green ensign designed before Newfoundland joined Confederation. I thought the liberals meant something else entirely when they call themselves “progressive”.
