Former Privacy Commissioner Radwanski and Chief of Staff charged with fraud and breach of trust
OTTAWA — March 15, 2006 — The RCMP announced today that former Privacy Commissioner of Canada George Radwanski has been charged with fraud and breach of trust stemming from allegations that surfaced in a 2003 audit by the Office of the Auditor General (OAG).
Radwanski’s former Chief of Staff/Special Advisor, Arthur Lamarche, was also charged with fraud and breach of trust.
The charges mark the conclusion of an investigation that began in the fall of 2003 when the Auditor General of Canada referred the matter to the RCMP.
