Anyone know a “John L.” at Environment Canada? He sounds like a pathologically biased political unscientist to me who calls those who don’t agree with him “deniers” as if those of us who aren’t members of his cult should be somehow shunned and hated in society —as if we’re not unlike Holocaust deniers.
And he can’t decide if “the science is settled”, as he keeps repeating like a robot, or if he’s (and I quote) “open minded” …or what, exactly.
Intrepid eagle-eyed PTBC reader Maureen caught this exchange at the liberals’ Globe and Mail newspaper’s online orifice, this morning. I’ll copy just three comments of many posted by someone either actually working for Environment Canada, and arguing against other commenters; or between someone who is pretending to be working for Environment Canada and is utterly bereft of all the facts on the “man-made global warming” matter (and the nature of science in general), arguing against other commenters.
He also can’t decide if he’s going to bed. After about 300 comments, at 6:58 PM EDT he finally wrote:
…“Anyways, hoping our politicians will soon get on the same page as well. I’m heading out to run the stairs on Parliament now, need to get my restless energy out in prep for a no-doubt extremely busy week! Have a good night…..”
Then he went on and on and on, presumably in his jammies…

Well Brian, sorry to be childish, but I probably know more about climate science than you. Working on the ‘inside’ for Environment Canada, I see how our current government is trying to fool Canadians.
But keep denying all you want. Like I said, there is a scientific consensus. Even the IPCC (made of hundreds of scientists from around the world), who’s [SIC] future predictions are definetely [SIC] on the cautious end, has recently concluded that humans are ‘very likely’ to be causing climate change. They have defined that as being 90% certain. And that, in my and my colleagues [SIC] opinion, is a very very cautious estimate. I would say it’s more like 98%, and for every 1 climate change skeptic or denier, there are I would say 500 others disputing them.
There is A LOT of grumbling at Environment Canada regarding the current administration and their policy towards climate change.
Keep denying, but like I said you will be a dinosaur very very soon…..

HA! A pro-AGM bias at Environment Canada?? You have got to be kidding! I think you’re mistaken between the Conservatives (politicians) and the bureaucracy (public serveants [SIC], who cannot be political, and have to provide non-partisan ADVICE. Politicians decide what they want to do, DESPITE our advice, which I can tell you right now does not involve intensity targets).
I get the sense you don’t really understand how it works in Canada. I can tell you right now Environment Canada employees, including every single one my colleagues working on the climate change file, know that AGM is a ‘theory’ concocted by those hoping to prolong the debate (‘tobacco doesn’t cause cancer’ ring a bell?). And I can tell you right now everyone at EC is hoping a) The current government will wake up, or b) Another administration will soon be in power. I doubt the former will happen.
Pro-AGM bias at Environment Canada? Can’t wait to go to work tomorrow….this will be a good one.
As for your homework on climate change denier propaganda, I don’t have space on this website to provide my response, and am not wasting my time anyways. But provide me your references and maybe I’ll be able to trace where their funding comes from….
But if you would be so kind as to provide me your email address, I can send you a nice Word document providing a response to every single one of your questions (am being serious)….

Brian,
The jury is not out bud. There is scientific consensus. Like I said, the only people who deny the human-induced GHGs—climate change link are, like I said, people wanting to prolong the debate, or people like you stuck under a rock.
Of course there is a huge ‘bias’ (it’s not really a bias since it’s fact) at Environment Canada regarding the fact that humans are causing global warming. We do have open minds are there is a lot we still need to learn about the issue. However, we have moved past this debate and have adopted the policy (just like every other government in the world) that humans are causing global warming, and are trying to do something about it.
Anyways, I’m done wasting my time. I have an extremely busy week at work putting your tax dollars to good use.
Despite being “done wasting [his] time” (again), he continued on into the very late hours, pecking away at this keyboard with his unbiased very biased open-minded science is settled so shut up mantra.
He’s at work today…. very sleepy no doubt… giving us good value for our taxpayer buck(?)… spreading the gospel…. saying things like (and I quote):
”… blah blah blah. Pathetic. Now you try and use humour like a lot of Conservatives,”…
Vote liberal. Get more of the deck stacked.
