Liberals/progressives get voted out in America; BC progressive ditches on his own; Campbell resigns

B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell resigns
I think he saw the writing on the wall —or possibly in the tea (party) leaves.

Sadly, the opposition to the the now-ditching Premier Gordon Campbell’s Liberal Party is the even more progressive you’ve got to be kidding party, and what is possibly the lamest, most ineffectual party leader I’ve ever known.

Another effort at a resurgent provincial Conservative Party was just starting to take hold in BC, with the help of some solid conservatives like (my own) current MP, the good Conservative John Cummins.  No doubt this — and possibly to head off what the progressives like him might see as an oncoming awakening of the electorate that looks a lot like a TEA PARTY, which is rising thanks to his sudden, badly handled and explained foisting of the HST on the citizens, among other things like his cap and tax carbon schemes, were the impetuous for Campbell getting out of Dodge.  A good move.

Gordon Campbell, who came into power a thousand years ago with a historic sweep of all Legislature seats except two held by extreme leftists in the you’ve got to be kidding party, chose to govern as a progressive from day one.

Even given his enormous mandate, he chose to retain the socialists’ prior creations like the Insurance “Corporation” of BC —the state-owned car insurance “company” (with optional towing package —apparently a core function of government!);  the state-owned and run liquor stores and its 100% Soviet-lite (and less filling!) state control over everything liquid and yummy;  BC’s horrible and ultra-expensive state-owned and state-run ferry system;  a state-owned, state-run gambling conglomerate that routinely rips off its own citizens;  the state-owned electricity production “company” called BC Hydro;  and all the other state-owned, state-run inventions of prior progressives and outright socialists and I dare say Marxists who have run roughshod over this beautiful place for decades.

Campbell also proved his typically liberal-left, unscientific, secular-progressive, politically-correct bona fides with his endorsement of fully taxpayer-funded abortions at public taxpayer-funded hospitals;  his foisting on British Colombians a bizarre, almost fascist, mandatory even for the home-schooled, homosexual-centric education policy devised by two gay men;  his full endorsement of gay “marriage”;  his embrace of Canada’s socialist state-run “healthcare” (—wink!) system;  plans for an even more expanded universal “child care” and state-owned, state-run “early learning” (—wink!) system, and all the other progressive, and sometimes worse, policies and politics.

And then he spent BC taxpayer cash into depths unknown, and grew government, instead of the other way around, like every progressive government does, everywhere.

SIDEBAR:  This hasn’t stop the extreme leftists at the state-owned CBC from chinming in, in commenting on this story at CBC.ca, with sentiments like this one:

“He’s quitting! Another neocon bites the dust.”

This shows you how effective the state-owned, state-run schools and its Marxist-like teachers have taught our kids.

On the plus side he reduced some taxes even while surreptitiously raising others through such devices as his specious, and I think fully deceptive and misleading cap and tax carbon scheme, which costs citizens a fortune; a green fairy tale-based environment policy which would cost countless BILLIONS, and lots of other fees and taxes.

It goes without saying that we need a good, actual conservative party in BC.  It seems Campbell has carefully calculated his retirement to stymie that, though, allowing the socialist you’ve got to be kidding party another disastrous opportunity to control our lives.
