Liberal “strategist” Susan Smith has a scoop! So does the NDP “strategist”!

Samson, Smith, Monk, on CBCA panel of party strategists was assembled on the government’s CBC Newsworld today, and allowed to drone on about their party leaders regarding the debates.

Liberal spokesman and “strategist” Susan Smith (that’s her in the middle in the picture) spent most of her time trying to interrupt others and when mercifully not talking, reflexively began roboticly twisting her head from left to right, which in case you didn’t know, was her way of telegraphing her message—even wile not talking—that what you’re now hearing is an outright lie.  (Maybe she was taught that technique in the Scott Reid Liberal Campaign Strategy School).  It’s what lots of total amateurs do.

Then when she got the chance to speak, she said that last night in the debates, Stephen Harper said that Canadians are not worried about (actually, she says “aboat”) their jobs, and are not worried about (“aboat”) their mortgages.

Her NDP cohort, Kathleen Monk, agreed that Harper had said that.  But only she and her NDP cohort caught that revelation apparently, as it was news to me and I think also the other three CBC viewers at home.  As far as I can tell, no news media reported that caper today.  Even the CBC anchor, Suhana Meharchand, who watched the debate, never heard that at all.  And she even said so.  (I know!)

Here’s my transcript of what they said:

Liberal “strategist” Susan Smith:  “Stephen Harper said last night, he said, Canadians don’t care aboat, they’re not worried aboat their jobs, that Canadians aren’t worried aboat their mortgages.”

[Suhana Meharchand interrupts saying “I didn’t hear that…”, and Conservative spokesman Lisa Samson interjects with “He did not say that…”, etc.]

[continuing] “I heard it loud and clear!  He said it twice!  He said it again in the scrum!  Now I agree Suhana that people are concerned aboat the stock market, there’s no doubt aboat that but it’s absolutely false and it shows how out of touch he when he says that people aren’t concerned aboat their jobs and their mortgages!  And ya know what? When they don’t have jobs, and they’re worried aboat….”

[cutting her off] CBC’s Suhana Meharchand: “Kathleen he never said… Lisa you’re saying he never said that. Susan is saying he did say that.  Kathleen did you hear uh hear Stephen Harper say that?”

NDP “strategist” Kathleen Monk:  “He did.  He did in fact say that Canadians are not worried about their jobs, they’re not worried aboat their mortgages.  And what Jack pointed out last night was, if he doesn’t get it, like, he’s either callous or he just doesn’t care. Is he incompetent?  Or what?  …”  [then she prattled on and on endlessly trying to repeat Layton’s talking points, but messing them up, mostly]

CBC’s Suhana Meharchand: “Lisa I want you to put this thing to rest—you’ve got two against one so maybe you’re in a position of you know having two gang up on one.  Is the Prime Minister concerned, or as suggested does he think Canadians are worried about their job?”

Conservative “strategist” Lisa Samson:  “Well of course…”. [etc., as Susan Smith begins turning her head back and forth…]

I checked the Liberal Party web site and amidst their ridiculous mess of messages pointing out every Harper evildoing deed like saying slightly capitalist things, nothing is mentioned there about Harper’s supposed theory that Canadians don’t care about their jobs or their mortgages.  And as I said, no news media picked up that huge scoop.

So that Susan Smith and that Kathleen Monk are sittin’ on some gold, baby!  They should put it on their web sites!

If anybody including you liberals can find proof of him saying that in the context in which Smith and Monk are implying, and that he actually meant that he thinks “Canadians don’t care about their jobs or their mortgages”, please send it in and I’ll present it here in the most damning form possible.

Otherwise you liberals and leftists should just admit you construed a nice little lie and told it to the nation, on purpose.  It’s a matter of principle, surely you agree.

Maybe the CBC’s crack squad of investigative journalists can check under that rock today and tomorrow and uncover the truthiness about what I’m going to go ahead and call an outrageous lie, for now.  And if the CBC doesn’t check into it, well, then they’re all in the same aboat.
