Apparently they had to report, among other unfavorable-to-liberals things today, that the “ethics” “czar” Bernard (“hire me”) Shapiro has cleared David Emerson. (Hat tip: conservativegal)
It’s slowly hitting the liberal mainstream media now, but this particular Canadian Press story captured the blue funk of the liberal mainstream media best:
That’s their whole story. Maybe they had to find a tissue and couldn’t finish writing it.
The state-run CBC also has a story. They quote Shapiro but not Emerson or Harper. Maybe Emerson and Harper aren’t their kind of source for news. [ NOTE: CBC.CA STORY HAS BEEN REVISED AND NOW INCLUDES MORE INFORMATION. PERHAPS THEY GET THEIR INFO FROM BLOGS. ] No matter, Shapiro saw fit to bloviate on the matter and express his biased opinions about the matter—quite apart from the simple ruling that was sought:
As Bernard Shapiro released his report on the matter, however, he called on Parliament to have a debate on the practice of switching parties.
“I believe that the discontent expressed by Canadians on this matter cannot be attributed merely to the machinations of partisan politics,” he wrote in the report.
“Fairly or unfairly, this particular instance has given many citizens a sense that their vote — the cornerstone of our democratic system — was somehow devalued, if not betrayed.”
I’m loving today.
