Liberal media exposes their abject bias against Harper’s (Canada’s) Conservative win

Watch as the liberal-left-mainstream media strains to come to grips with the Conservative Party win in Canada.  This is the story from what can only now be described as the hilarious Canadian Press.  They can’t find anything even neutral, to say nothing of positive.

Spot the negative:

Harper’s Conservatives win most seats but fail to get majority

OTTAWA (CP) – Stephen Harper’s Conservatives failed to win a majority of seats Monday but Paul Martin’s resignation appears to have cemented their ability to govern.

Oh thank God for Martin resigning, giving the Conservatives the ability to govern.  This was written by an adult, apprently educated.  Apparently fair and balanced.

Oh but that’s just the beginning of the dismal report.

Some constitutional experts had talked about Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean being entitled to choose the next prime minister if there were concerns about the stability of Parliament. “The prime minister is appointed by the Governor General and stays in power until he resigns or is dismissed by the Governor General,” Queen’s University political scientist Ned Franks said before Monday’s results were known.

“An election has nothing immediately to do with who is the government.”

They’re serious. This is not a spoof.

With 124 seats, Harper’s Tories will have to rely on the support of at least one opposition party to survive in the 308-seat House of Commons, and every piece of legislation may have to be negotiated.

The Liberals and the NDP won about 130 combined, while the Bloc took about 50.

Peter Russell of the University of Toronto said the Governor General’s top concern is the stability of Parliament and that overly frequent elections are a problem.

“That hurts the institutions of our democracy if they’re so fractious, so unable to co-operate, that we can’t avoid another election for a few months, can’t have any government that stable for, say, a year or two.”

He said Jean has a duty to consider all the options.

Then they go on to suggest that a left-wing coalition would work best, rather than accept that whole “democracy” crap.  It’s the Bush derangement syndrome setting in very, very early.  Plant that seed, liberal media!

“If a prime minister who’s not done very well wants to carry on because he thinks he can win the confidence of Parliament, and fairly soon, she would be wrong to sack him.

“It’s not for her to say, ‘I don’t think you have a hope in hell, get out of here.’ We have parliamentary government and it’s her job to make sure it functions.”

Canada had a coalition government during the First World War, when Robert Borden’s Unionist Conservatives joined forces with the pro-conscription section of the Liberal party.

In 1985, an NDP-Liberal coalition entered a formal two-year deal that toppled the Progressive Conservative dynasty in Ontario.

In other words, congratulations on a successful democratic vote, Canada!  And screw you, conservatives!
