Subject: Globe and Mail pollHi Joel,
The Globe and Mail seems to have difficulty devising a sensible poll [SEE THIS PREVIOUS ONE]. Today’s gives a poll that is constructed in such as way as to make the answer required ‘yes’ or ‘no’ a little awkward.
I am wondering if I should say: yes, it is just another phase on the long-running strife, or yes, the Sri Lankan government’s miltary defeat will end the island’s problems.

Globe Poll:
Does the Sri Lankan government’s military defeat of the Tamil Tigers end the island’s problems or is it merely another phase in the long-running strife?Yes
No
Hi Jean,
Ha! Yes! Or no! It just doesn’t mater.
Thanks Jean. I’ll try to think up a new one to post later. It’s surprisingly hard to think as dumb as the G&M…
Joel
UPDATE:
I’ve been trying to be as dumb as the G&M and think up a PTBC poll of equal journalistic quality (I’m on coffee cup number two already… still nothing…). But then I noticed the G&M actually changed the wording of the poll question. They just changed the wording of the poll in the middle of the poll question being actively asked! It now asks:
“Does the Sri Lankan government’s military defeat of the Tamil Tigers end the island’s problems?”
So if I do think of a poll as dumb as the G&M’s original one, I’ll be sure to change it up a little after a day or so, making it completely different.
Hey I wonder how Harper and the Conservatives are doing in the G&M’s latest polls!
